Motorfish Control Panel for download
« on: December 14, 2004, 12:38:12 am »
Many of you have been asking for Motorfish's control panel for some time. It is finally here, and available for download. For now it is not being hosting on the arcade art library main site. Please use a download helper if possible. The file size is 62.4 mb (compressed). I would rather not have to eat bandwidth for half-downloaded files.

You can find it at the following URL http://share.localarcade.com/motorfishpanel.zip

I will probably move it over to the library in a few weeks. In the meantime, if someone wants to vector trace all of the line art in the file, that would be good. The file could compress less than 10 mb, unlike it's large 60+ mb file size.

Also, please note; as was stated previously, this is for your personal non-commercial use. Please do not abuse motorfish's good will.

Hello everyone.

Sincere thanks go to Motorfish for sharing and to Mahuti for hosting. I am sure this will provide an excellent example on how best to use layers within a paint package to achieve this high standard.

Regards to all.

Thanks to Motorfish, Electron and mahuti for access to the file.  Not as many layers as I expected, although I'm sure you did some merging while you were going.  It's an interesting example.

Had to merge some, sorry. ^_^ Got too big. It can easily be broken down into individual parts again with the barest of Photoshop skills though, so people should be able to tweak it with minimal effort.

newbie here.

thank you so very much for helping me to get started on my mame project you guys.

Control panel overlay was the one issue i thought i was really going to struggle with until lo and behold, motorfish's appealing cpo was up for grabs to help guide others through this cpo design ordeal.

great tool for helping me learn photoshop too!
so far i've spent a week and have been working nonstop on the design. I've converted it to 4 player joysticks and since then my file size grew to 211MB and still counting.

one small question, when i try and print to size, how do i get photoshop to print the whole cpo image at 100% with no cropping? so far i've been selecting areas and printing them but when i get to the final printout design i'd like a seamless print.

any info regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain.

This is a fantastic CPO... does anyone know what font is used for the main components, such as "Capcom Config" and "4 Way Joystick"?

Thanks!

Looks kinda like Verve or Tube, but I can't find the exact cut.

The font is called Bodiac. I figured this out by searching through countless fonts online until I matched it up.

Also, a question for Motorfish - I have made a number of mods to this (including breaking things out into more layers and leaving things vector based rather than rasterizing them) and wanted to share. Would this be okay with you?

I didn't want to overstep my bounds by offering your original artwork in a modified version unless you were okay with it.

I'm sure we can put this into the files section of byoac for permanent hosting. If all involved can  iron out what final version should be placed there, let me know.

It will also go up front on localarcade, but I haven't had time yet to put it up (too big to use the upload interface) and I'm just swamped with work.
