Enlarging mounting holes on the I-PAC board
(1/2) > >>
Jabba:
I am going to mount an I-PAC without the mouting feet. I think I will use Peale's suggestion by using the bick pen method (cut into 5/8" pieces). I need to enlarge the mounting holes on the I-PAC board to accomodate a wood screw. Am I safe doing this or will I fry the board. Not sure if I will kill any *potential* circuits.

Thanks for the advice...

I used a drill to make the holes larger. No problem.

Thanks for the quick reply mahuti. Great, now I'm off to the workshop... :D

Be carefull, you may just snap the hole larger and then it won't be a hole anymore.

As long as you dont break any leads your all good..
one note of caution..
the G5 resin material that the board is made of is a carcinogen and acts like silica or glass in the lungs..This stuff embeds itself in there and never comes out  :o ..this leads to the same types of problems that asbestos is associated with..nothing like dying from drowning in your own fluids!
in its solid state it is intert and safe to handle or put in your mouth if you so wished..
but the dust created by drilling milling or whatever is quite harmfull.
i recomend wet drilling .
