Hey, at least he didn't block outgoing flights for two hours by sitting on the tarmac getting a haircut.   ;)

A while back we had Clinton over in the Netherlands and for him the highway from the Hague to Schiphol was closed until he made his way across.

RacerX:

Yeah, this kind of thing happens all the time for dignitaries.  Sometimes when the former President George H.W. Bush is in town with highly ranked officials, they shut down roads leading from the airport to the Bush Library while the dignitaries are in transit.  Luckily, the library is very close to the airport (not that anything is very far from anything else in College Station).

We had similar troubles here in the U.S.  Every year when Clinton wanted to give a speech, they'd block out hours of valuable TV viewing time that could have been better used airing a "this is how paint dries" program  ;)

It's for security purposes, in case there's some wacked-out Canuck up there looking to play out his own "lone gunman" scenario because his flight was delay......nevermind, I've already said too much  ;)
