I cut the cord on my Light Gun!
« on: September 29, 2002, 08:34:12 pm »
Well, I finally did it. I cut the cord on my Act-Labs gun so I could permanently mount it in my cab. I also needed to extend the cable a little to make it long enough. For any one interested in doing this the cord from the gun to the black box contains 8 small wires and a braided shield.
I used a piece of a shielded CAT 5 station cable for the 4' extention I added on. I hard wired mine but it would not be a big deal  to put a female network jack on the black box end and leave the end on the station cable to make it quick dis-connect. i also made a leather holster to hold the gun when not in use.
I have a few pictures on my web site.
