The Ps2 never had a hard drive. |

Makes me not want to get a PS2 at all... --- End quote --- The older PS2's did have laser problems... newer versions have been fixed, including the newer slim PS2. I've heard the newer ones overheat online, but ppl I know that have it have never had the problem. I've owned 3 different "fat" PS2's and never had one overheat, even after longgggggg game sessions. PS2's never came stock with a hard drive, so you needed a memory card anyway, so I'm not really sure what you mean there. You're thinking about an xbox. In fact, even with a hard drive installed, I don't think you can use it as a memory card, but I may be mistaken there since I've never tried to do it. I have HDloader on my PS2 and certainly haven't seen an option to turn the HDD into a memory card. Don't get a PS2 if you don't want |

Sony sells an official 40gig drive for Final Fantasy XI and "future games." You can also hook up any standard hdd to a Sony Broadband adapter and use HDloader or HDadvance. Quick edit: There are to my knowledge a number of modchips that work with the new slimmer PS2. The motherboards inside are in fact, not very different from the older ones. I've already seen quite a number of modded slim PS2's go up for sale. |

Got any sites I could read about that problem? (I know GTA San Andreas makes my cd drive click for some reason!) --- End quote --- It was on evilavatar - a gaming news site - when the slim ps2 was first released. Unfortunately, I could not find the news article in the archive. I have a feeling that these people had the vents blocked or had it on top of another warm appliance or something of that nature. Here are some cool photos of the new ps2s interior: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ralls76/detail?.dir=2cd6&.dnm=1996.jpg&.src=ph You can see that it is actively cooled. |

There's a program that allows you to transfer saves to your HD, but that doesn't do you any good because games do not have the ability to look for game saves on the HD anyways! It's basically just a marketing ploy to get you to buy the product I guess. I mean, who wants to load up some stupid program, x-fer the save you want to use onto the memory card and then finally switch disks to the game you intend to play? Same thing with that stupid USB memory stick someone came out with, you can't save and load directly to the stick... |
