(Not in a gay way) --- Quote ---MrC, what's the name of that Flying-Owl Lodge in Maine? I need to start working on Alison now so by next summer or so I'll be ready to go. :) --- End quote --- They're called Libby Camps (http://www.libbycamps.com/outposts/locations.html) We stayed at the most remote outpost cabin they have (pictured above), it's called the Cliff Lake Camp and the description is as follows: "Allagash headwater pond 60 miles from the nearest town. Log cabin sets on the thoroughfare between Cliff Lake and Twin Lakes, a combination of a deep clear rocky lake and a shallow, marshy lake. Brook Trout and Lake Trout make for good fishing. The lakes have many ledge outcrops, islands, spring inlets and Norway Pine Points, an excellent area for exploring. The camp sleeps up to six people and may be accessed by seaplane or gated private gravel drive. Cabin has one double and four single beds. Cabin has 14' deep V boat, 17' canoe and a kayak." I'll send you a link to the photo album of our trip, so you can show Alison more pictures of what she'd be in for. Make sure you tell her that they'll rent you a satellite phone ($10/day) for emergencies. They'll fly in with the sea plane if there are any problems. We stayed 9 days and they flew over twice to make sure we weren't trying to send smoke signals. :) BTW, everyone: Here's the owl pics I was talking about: http://66.134.219.9/thunk/gallery/albums/maine/res64453.jpg http://66.134.219.9/thunk/gallery/albums/maine/res64454.jpg (compare it to the size of my thumbs in this picture!) http://66.134.219.9/thunk/gallery/albums/maine/res64455.jpg mrC |
