New England BYOAC Meet
« on: November 16, 2004, 11:22:58 am »
With 77 days between meetup #1 and #2 we're a little overdue for a new meetup don't you think?

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Indeed I did!  But not at the meet.

I got that monitor working finally.  Cap kit and a replaced pot later.  Grand total: $20 including parts and gas to pick it up.

I'm interested as well...december is crazy month though, might be better off adding another 30 days to that counter and trying for january since it's a 'dead' month.

Ed's.....place is closed for the winter ...now what ?

Bummer dude!  Does the whole comunity just up and leave or something?  When is Ed's open for buisness again?

As for January...  Whatever, this thread was more intended to see what sort of reaction I would get, kinda get a feel for what everyone thinks, ya know.  It'll happen when it happens even if that's not untill spring or whatever.

I'm offering to have the after party at my place but be forewarned that I live in an apartment that's not exactly huge, but it's probably big enough for the amount of people that came to the first two meets + a couple more.  Oh and seating would probably be a problem too!  On the positive side my neighbors that are directly connected aren't realy too bad and probably would be pretty nice about things.  Also I live like 2 minutes off of I93 in Concord which is south of Funspot and therefore on the way home for most.

Whatever!  Feel free anyone to suggest something else or not I don't care.  I'm just bored out of my gourd and a meet up would be fun!

I've gone up a few times the past month or two and could probably make it again.
As long as this time all the games are available for play.   ;)

PS crashwg I haven't forgot about the pins you need and I have looked for them.  I moved and lots of stuff is still packed.  This weekend I'm going to rip open all the boxes in the garage and find them.

The admins took it down.  With some prompting they may bring it back.  See the site threads for more on that.

As for your new avatar, I liked the old one better.  Either that, or use the evil monkey from "Family Guy".  The evil monkey is teh r0x0r!!!!1

He didn't just come for the steak tips... it's just a good bonus and extremly tasty!  Unfortunatly I doubt Chad will be comming this time as he is in Job-Core somewhere 8 hours north of here in Maine.

I'm not too sure it's going to be all that fun if we don't have a place to hang out for a few hours after our gameplay...  What does everyone else think?  I mean games are fun and all, but I've got 10,000 on my computer already ya know.

I agree hanging out for a while is always good but I am sure we can figure something out, once we get a head count

Yeah, we've got a couple of months to prepare for this thing. A hang-out spot shouldn't be too hard to figure out, I'm more worried that the weather could be a little unsavory for the long drive. Fingers crossed!

Yup, in January there's always a chance of snow.  Let's play it by ear, and keep track of the weather.

As for another place to hang, I remember a mall not too far away.  We had an AGM meet there, and hung out @ the mall to get some food.

Was it the outlet mall in Tilton?  Steeplegate?

As far as I can remember dining wise, Tilton only has Uno's and Steeplegate's got Applebees. Not really appropriate hang-out spots either way.

I'll try and make it again, I'm going home the weekend before though (it's a much overlooked fact that us Irish love to celebrate Martin Luther King Day), so I could be a little worn out.

I don't think I can bring any kids. Maybe I could snag one if I hung out in the park and offered them some candy. Kids like candy, right?  :P

Are all members invited?  I would like to go, but have custody of my kids and might not be able to since I am 4 1/2 hours away.  But I would like to have a meet at my house in the future.  I don't have my first mame cab built, but have 20 arcade games plus about 10 boards for my jamma test cab, and mame on 3 computers.  I live on Long Island, NY.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't be making it next weekend anyway, since I'm going to Ireland tonight for a few days and everything's a bit crazy right now. Anytime in February would be great*

Naw, Ed was talking up-thread about changing the date to sometime in February, since a few people can't do the 22nd of Jan.

I don't think there is a revised date yet.

Yea probably won't be as good as the last 2 but hey at least we can get together and swap stories.

Since no one picked a day I will....Saturday, Feb 26th
This should give me some time to brew some beer and finish the mame machine.

Yeah, my wife's car blew the timing belt and water pump a couple weeks ago.  The dealer tried to stick us for **$4500** for a whole new short block.  A used engine would have been less than half that.  My mechanic got it back on the road for like $640... though now the computer is going.  At least that one can be replaced plug and play, if we can just find a cheap one.

Feb. 26th at Ed's place eh? That's Methuen, right?

I should have a cocktail finished by then, should I try and bring it up there? I have to see if we can get the mother-in-laws station wagon again, or a vehicle from work.

Edit: I'll definetly have this cocktail kit finished. I'm working out the monitor mounting right now, here's some proof that I actually do put them together once in a while (I've had this kit for about two years now and never put it together!):

Concord, NH  :-\  I highly doubt somone will be able and willing give me a ride...

I'm not overly concerned about it though, not that you all aren't great to hang out with but it just won't be the same without getting to go to Funspot first!

If we do infact happen to have a ride by then we'll most likely come though and there is a chance that we might seing as though I will probably have a job in the next week or so and my GF got her tax return back.

Yeah, my wife's car blew the timing belt and water pump a couple weeks ago.

Since you're local to me, would you recommend that mechanic? Was he good? My car just had the "cat" go, needs a timing belt, possibly a water pump, the blower motor just went and my computer controlled engine management system seems to be on the fritz. All within a week's time...

So I'm looking for some work to be done.

Ed: I can still go though as Rae has a car we can use. I'll keep my eye on whether or not we're trekkin' to Funspot.

The 26th would give me a good excuse to get out of a birthday party, but the 27th works for me too (i.e. I'll have to check with the wife).

So is this Saturday okay with you Ed?
I need to get a vehicle of some kind together. Should I try to bring this cocktail machine? It's still not 100% finished, but very playable.

Edit: It's a cocktail arcade machine, not an alcohol dispenser  :(

K...here's the latest:

Just talked w/ Ed, his whole family is super sick, and it looks like most people can't do this Sunday, which works best for Ed. So, even though I'd hate to move these dates around, we thought it may be best to just move it to *next* weekend (Sat, Mar. 5th or Sun, Mar. 6th). This also gives JoyMoney JoyMonkey more time to finish that cocktail cab.  ;)

So, given the above, what's the consensus? (Pick a date)

- Sat. March 5th
or
- Sun. March 6th

Chime in and we'll make it solid.

mrC

P.S. I just PM'ed everyone that has ever posted in this thread. Hopefully they'll stop by and respond. More the merrier.

Yeah "JoyMoney" (sorry MrC, couldn't resist) :D - actually a cocktail cab that IS an alcohol dispenser could be cool too  LOL gotta put in that trigger button labeled "Pour"

thanks MrC for the headsup, college being what it is I haven't been able to get to the forums much - Saturday March 5th looks promising for me, the 6th is out (my mate's Grandfather's birthday party, he's going to be 93, so we gotta be there).

Do we now have a definite plan as to what we're doing where? 'cause I'll need final directions or something from CT  :)

Not too sure if I'll be able to make it on the 5th or 6th either though guys.  Not sure if I mentioned it in this thread or not but we have a van now, unfortunatly it doesn't run currently and even if I can get it to start I'd have to dump power stearing fluid into it every 15 miles or so...  >:(  Hopefully I'll be getting a job soon which will most likely not be in time to fix the van and pay my cable rent and phone bills that will be overdue by the time I get paid.

Ok thanks MR.C for taking the intiative and calling me .

As MR.C said we as a family have been sick for over a week .

I apoligize for not hoping on the boards sooner and explaining.

I told Mr.C on the phone that either day next weekend would be good, however I just checked the calander. Sunday my son has a hockey game in the late afternoon so it looks like Sat. is the day

I was thinking 1 pm on Sat the 5th

It would be cool if you could bring that cocktail table as I never started/finished the mame machine, due to bad time of both my vehicle breaking down. I do have 2 games Hit the Ice and The Main Event ...I'll try to put MAME On The MOVE back together for the party . I also have a slot mahine and a pachinko machine to keep people busy ...oh yeah and a pinball with a slow left flipper.

So I hope we'll see everyone here.

Mr.C and Recycled-Past know where I live ...for the rest of you I will PM the address to you

The only other thing we need to talk about is FOOD !

Any menu suggestions?

Talk to you all soon
Ed

No need to reschedule the meet around me, just do it when it's best for everyone else.

Let's settle on a solid date by the end of tomorrow, so everyone can plan accordingly. Too much wobbling and we'll never get together.

So we're going with the 5th?

The cocktail is up and running (not 100% finished, but when is anything ever 100% done?) and I think it will fit in the mother-in-laws' stationwagon with about 1/16" to spare  :-\

I can't get a car for the weekend, so now I've no way of getting to Methuen, or taking the cocktail cab :-[
Anyone want to pick me and my cab up?
Or we could just meet at my place (South Boston).

This thread makes me cry.   :'(

It only happens because we've got a bunch of non-comittal prone, new-englanders...who couldn't own decent cars to save their lives. When I was back in the Motor City, you could get used vehicles from a vending machine!! It's true! I'm about to rent a freakin' bus and pick you dudes up and get this thing going.

Anyhow, can we settle on a friggin' date already??? Seriously, like Chad said, it's beers and arcade games.

Actually, the problem here is that most New Englanders ARE committment prone.  The reason most people aren't attending is because the date keeps moving.  People are waiting to see the final date and then decide if they want to go.  You're doing it ass backwards.

I already suggested a final date. Ed's the "flip-flopper."   8)

I said we should have made a solid date well in advance and have the meeting irregardless of who can show. If there's a low turn-out, we can have another one. Like you said, it's for beer and arcade games.

So what the heck is going on now? I'm not going to suggest another date, I don't need the additional heat.

I could take the commuter rail up to Lawrence or wherever is closest if someone's willing to pick me up?

Hey...HERE'S THE DEAL:

  • Tomorrow is a "no go" for the meet. Talked w/ Ed and he's still sick, he's just been to accommodating to tell everyone!  :)
  • A new date will be posted by the end of this coming week. It will *NOT* change and it will be at least 2 weeks from now, so everyone can plan accordingly.
  • We will choose a 'Primary' and 'Secondary' Meet location. This way, there's two possible 'hosts'. One drops out, the meet still happens. For now, Ed's place will probably be the primary, my place will be secondary (Lowell).

Keep your eyes on this thread.

Furthermore, we talked about developing some guidelines to help the planning stages go more smoothly. The rough draft is as follows:

NEW ENGLAND BYOAC MEET GUIDELINES

1) - One solid date must be scheduled. Minimum 2 weeks from announcement posted in forum.
2) - Two locations will be posted. 1 primary, 1 alternative backup if primary must cancel.
3) - If three or more people are willing/able to gather, it will not be canceled.
4) - Some sort of gaming apparatus must be present - Console (PS2, GC, XBOX), Cabinet, handheld, friggin' cell phone, whatever! - Unless we're meeting to travel to a nearby arcade (FUNSPOT!!).

That's all for now. The new policy (I've laid the iron fist down now) is that we hope everyone will plan their schedules around the MEET, rather than have the MEET scheduled around everyone's plans. The reason for this is obvious. We've all had a great time when we're able to actually get together, but doing so has been a royal pain in the ass!  :)

By laying down some guidelines, we hope to make everything go more smoothly, which in turn, may influence more people to come. Feedback is welcome, but someone had to take the reigns here!

I am looking ahead to the summer again (and anxiously awaiting some Weirs Beach fun).

June 2 (Thursday) - June 5 (Sunday) is the 7th Annual International Classic Video Game Tourny at Funspot this year.

My suggestion for a meet would be Saturday, June 4th at Funspot- maybe a BBQ at Eds again? ...but definately some late night drinking hijinx at the smokehouse.

Even though I have been lurking, I have been watching the thread closely- Have some new goodies I will be able to share about my "Marc-ade" next time we meet (redesigned CP/ new rotary joys/ redesigned artwork)- I will be sure to have pics this time!

I'd say both...

Have a small get together on the 23rd and a big one in June at funspot.

I'm going to a BBQ in N. Andover at 1pm on the 23rd but I could leave it early to go to Ed's for a BYOAC "meeting"

And I say no get together during the classic gaming tournament.  Unless you just want to look at the games, and not play.

That's true, half the games last year were fenced off from the general public. It was cool being there though, there was a big buzz of excitement, people doing interviews and guys playing games with video cameras looking over their shoulders.
Here's photos of last years tournament:
http://www.classicarcadegaming.com/contests/Jun2004/pictures/index.htm
http://www.backntime.net/Events/Clas2004/Framec2k4-1.html

See if you can spot any BYOAC'ers running riot in the background!

Can't find any video. Shame, since there was a cameraman stalking my wife through the whole thing (some kind of 'wow, chicks like old games!' excuse).

I'm not driving 2+ hours with my family just to have half the games off limits, so I wouldn't bother to attend if it happened during the tournament.

The cost of gas alone makes the token cost pretty much a moot point.  I'm not really concerned with the cost of tokens.

I thought we were talking about Saturday June 4th at FunSpot.

We'll try and make it again; I'm putting Jen through some strenuous training just in-case she feels like entering the womens' challenge. I bet she could beat anyone elses significant other at BurgerTime with one hand tied behind her back! How 'bout a BYOAC 'My wife could beat up your wife' challenge?

Not me.  Crowded places + roped off games + Family + Newborn = pissed off wife, bored kids, and tired adults who are chasing around the bored kids.

Although, everything Peale outlined is exactly why I don't want kids yet.

Jagermeister? Sweet Jesus, that just brought back a flood of memories! Jen and I had a few more beers in the Naswa bar after you dropped us off and I do believe that we were absolutely twisted! For some reason they don't let you take your drinks back to your room  :'(

Here's another drunk photo from the Smokehouse last year. I can't tell if you're delighted about the drink arriving or staring at the waitresses boobs.

But the wife can't make it and I can't afford a hotel right now. Is there any room on the couch for the night?
I got a car so I'd be able to drive anyone up from the Boston area, could probably swing by and pick up CrashWG, but I'd be staying the night (hopefully maybe).

Oh yeah, it's Saturday June 4th, right?

Unless I can find coverage between now and then, I'm working Saturday the 4th in the morning (the benefits of being management) - but will be coming up afterwards.  Worst case, my ETA to area is gonna be 5pm.

I am a definate.

Seriously though, me, Ed and Recycled-Past stayed two nights in a row there and it was nice. Plenty of room and Recycled makes a killer Omelette! This year, just for the hell of it - weather permitting - I may pitch a tent at a campground and stay the whole weekend up there with my girlfriend.

I'm going to be staying at the Tamworth campground with a couple friends that weekend.  It's about an hour's drive or so away, but if you're looking to save a couple bucks on renting a full campsite I'm sure we could find some room.

I'm in so. But I'm not reading Chad a bedtime story.

It's a shame my wife can't make it this time, I have her completely geeked. Last night I updated my cocktail machine from Mame 0.67 to 0.80 while she was out, then when she played it she asked if I'd updated Mame because the sound in Galaga seemed different! She was looking forward to entering the womens contest too.  :(

Anyone need a lift from the Boston area?

The Christening is in Ipswich, which means I'd be better off driving myself to NH and then meeting my wife and kids there the next day... thanks for the offer, though.

Crashwg...do you have a ride ?

ChadTower...Ipswich is abouit 30 minutes from my house in Methuen, so either way you you look at it you should be able to come to the meet ...like I said you can drive up to Methuen and leave your car here ...let me know what you want to do . If you do stay over there is room at my place

Staying at my place are:
Me

I can probably fit 1/2 more

Ok so the game plan is the same as last year 1PM at the Flagpole ..play for a few hours and then back to my place for some food . I will be providing the meats,

As of right now, I'm out...

1. I have no vehicle.  Yes someone could pick me up on the way but that leads me to #2

2. I have no money for tokens nor any to chip in for beer/food

This could change at any time though as my GF's step dad often has me do odd jobs with him wich would earn me some money.  So as long as nobody minds me making a last minute decision, I may or may not be comming.

I attempted to have a Crap Sale today (no realy, it's all a bunch of crap!) and all I could make was $2.25 ::)  I sold a stuffed dog thingy and a picture frame.  ;D

I'll give it another go tomorrow but if I can't get at least $30, I'm out.   :(

Update:
Talked to Chad (he came to the first two meets) and if he gets a check in the mail tomorrow as he is planning to we will be there.  I'm hoping to get Lee-Ann's mother to watch Jayleigh too, but if that doesn't happen there'll be 4 of us.

Yay!  I might get to spend all these tickets that I still have from the last meet!

I wouldn't have come anyway, due to the tournament, but family obligations take priority here.  Daughter will be a month old on the 6th, and I'm not going to saddle the wife to watch the kids and the baby while I play some games.  Wife wants to play too!

You tried a sale *yesterday?*  It was Thursday, man!  Of course you're not going to make diddly.

Well, of course I know that, but it's not like I have many other options  I need the money by saturday so I can't exactly have the yard sale on saturday

Honestly though, if I sell anything I have not wasted my time.  Everything I'm trying to get rid of just sits arround wasting space.  If I could get an average of a quarter per item I would still get like $20 though and that's a few games!  I think I'll lower my prices today as a mater of fact...  8)

Hey y'all, don't forget to print out and CUT OUT* your 50 FREE TOKEN coupons: http://www.funspotnh.com/mws-coupon.htm
*They won't accept them unless they're completely clipped out.

I don't mind stopping at the store on the way to Ed's to pick up some side stuff. I'd offer to make a side dish, but since I can't make anything really healthy, I'd better not. I'm responsible for my own cholesterol...don't want to be responsible your y'alls.  :)

What are you selling crash ?

A bunch of candles, all wrapped some in glass thingies.
6 beta fish bowls, the kind that you can have stuff growing out of
30 kids books 10 of each title, mt biking, rock climbing, clara barton
1 kids fishing pole, no reel, florecent orange!  :P
1 nylon stringed (no strings currently) Acoustic guitar w/ gig bag
1 push mower, pratically new, had a bent thing but I fixed it

I think that's it.  It's all stuff that I have aquired over the years from various sources and for various reasons.  All stuff I don't need and probably never will, but it was free and I can't pass up a deal like that!  Oh, the fishing pole was mine, I got it for my birthday when I was like 10 and the guitar I got for christmas like 5 years ago.

P.S. Ed, I don't need a ride.  Stealing my mother's car for the day.  It's not like she needs to go anywhere...  :P

GREAT time, everyone! Ed, the steak tips were great but that Dave guy talks too much.  ;)

MrC, what's the name of that Flying-Owl Lodge in Maine? I need to start working on Alison now so by next summer or so I'll be ready to go. :)

Screaming......You left your hot sauce at my place now that is just an excuse to getogether and go jet sking ...LOL

#1Chad  ....CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST POST ! It's about time

Recyccled Past ...You forgot some money on the table  ??? ..you guys shouldn't have done that ...You only owe me breakfast man ...LOL.

So recap of the events :

Ok so this time I won round 1 on Daytona...#1 Chad won round 2. Chris (Recycled-Pasts' friend) won the skeeball contest with 300 points. We ate some greaet food ..that chef is awesome . OH, and Like Screaming said Dave (Mr. C)  talked too much...just kidding.

For those who didn't attend :
It was well worth entering the contest
They gave us a bunch of trinkets, 200 tokens, and 2 bottle of Hot Sauce..1 from Funspot and one from Billy Mitchell ...well I think it was from him. That breaks down to 15 cents per token   which is only 3 cents more per token if you used the coupon .

Now for those of you who missed it ...get ready the next meet is going to be in August..... We are going to pick a date and that is it...it is not going to change . I talked briefly with Marc (tek nique), and there we are going to try to change it up a bit !  We are thinking a weekend get together as opposed to the one day event ....most of us stayed both days anyways !

SO pay attention to the date and try to make it !

Peale and Chad Tower  There should be no excues this time

I was so upset that Recyled Past left without cooking breakfast, I wept like a little girl for the entire 2 hour drive home  :'(

Ed was saying that next time we should pick a game at Funspot and see who can get the highscore. I was thinking about it and maybe everyone could put $10 into a hiscore pot and we could buy something BYOAC related to use as a prize (like maybe a 49-way stick and a GP-Wiz). Then we could pick a game at random on the day and all play like our lives depend on it!

They're called Libby Camps (http://www.libbycamps.com/outposts/locations.html)

We stayed at the most remote outpost cabin they have (pictured above), it's called the Cliff Lake Camp and the description is as follows: "Allagash headwater pond 60 miles from the nearest town. Log cabin sets on the thoroughfare between Cliff Lake and Twin Lakes, a combination of a deep clear rocky lake and a shallow, marshy lake. Brook Trout and Lake Trout make for good fishing. The lakes have many ledge outcrops, islands, spring inlets and Norway Pine Points, an excellent area for exploring. The camp sleeps up to six people and may be accessed by seaplane or gated private gravel drive. Cabin has one double and four single beds. Cabin has 14' deep V boat, 17' canoe and a kayak."

I'll send you a link to the photo album of our trip, so you can show Alison more pictures of what she'd be in for. Make sure you tell her that they'll rent you a satellite phone ($10/day) for emergencies. They'll fly in with the sea plane if there are any problems. We stayed 9 days and they flew over twice to make sure we weren't trying to send smoke signals.  :)

BTW, everyone: Here's the owl pics I was talking about:

Just so you know, since you missed the meeting and another Chad happened to be there....you are now and forever relegated to the position and title of Chad #2. So it has been written, so it shall be done.

ok here it is:

After a bit of research I can say that it started out as a galaxian machine. it was transformed into a galaga machine, and it was done really really well.  It has a "gallag" board in it that work flawlessly (with the orig. namco romset). no galaga side art but the galaxian sideart was covered up with spraypaint (ugh). also a "gallag" instruction card in english (which is really quite rare) was taped to the monitor bezel.
All worked well enough with a little powersupply adjustment until one gloomy day when I left it on and the monitor died. I still have a lot of work to do on it but those few months that it worked perfectly are well worth the months Ive put into diagnosing it.
I have since bought an original Galaga joystick to put in it and I am going to get a new UR CP from Mike's.

I overdrew my account to buy it too  ;D

- XD

ps. original marquee is flawless!

So JM you're out the whole month of August?  :o

Anyhow, I say we pick two (or so) dates and vote on 'em. The date that has the most attendees is the meetup.

I'm up for any time, my weekends are usually flexible. I'll leave the second date suggestion to somebody else.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm either helping people move, moving myself, being forced to play golf or going for training. I do have to go for some training in NH one weekend, maybe by some amazing coincidence it'll be the same weekend and somewhere close to Laconia.

How about the 13th or the 20th?  Now we have two dates.

I've got to go to NH on the 14th anyways so that might work out quite nice for me but the 20th will probably work also unless I choose to celebrate my wife's big Three-O that day.

Is it better to celebrate a birthday the weekend before or after the birthday?

Celebrating it before just makes the actual day of kinda' depressing, like it's all over already. Celebrating it the weekend after makes the whole week prior feel a little more special, because you have something to look forward too. That's my take on it.

Ok. Aug. 20th.

Did we want to try to organize something different this time? Bar-B-Q at a lake? Boating? BYOAC Kayaking Trip? Hanging around a campfire drinking?

I know Ed and Teknique both have access to a boat of some sort. What are our options? I don't mind organizing an inner-tube river float (day-trip), or something, if the weather is nice.

Any other suggestions?

So is the 20th the final decision for the date?  That's next weekend...  I think we need to get a list going of who's comming and decide exactly what it is we're doing pretty soon!

I'd assume we're still going to funspot, we are a bunch of arcade nerds after all right?  I've got the coupons taken care of, which for those who don't know gives you 50 free tokens with the purchase of $20 worth.  Anyone else can feel free to bring some also just in case something happens but what that could posibly be I don't know, the coupons are already in Lee-Ann's purse!  :P

Ed, you're place open for buisness?  Are we going to do some stuff on the lake as was suggested?  If we do so will we be going back to your place for the usual steak tips and alcoholic beverages?

Sorry to say I'm officially out this time. We moved into our new place in Salem last weekend, have all kinds of crap going on this weekend, and really need next weekend to arrange some un-packing. We're going up to somebodys timeshare on Winnipesaukee the following weekend though, but on the other side of the lake.  :'(

Are you suggesting that a little thing like Lake Winnipesaukee would keep you from a night of video games, liquer and the entertaining bunch that we, the NE BYOAC group, are?

We haven't set the date in stone yet so if you're up to the 27th, speek up now or forever hold your peace.  :P

And to those who oppose the 27th, feel free to speek up now also.  I for one would like to give everyone a fair chance to join in on the festivities.

Like Ed said, time to check in!

Myself and my GF (Lee-Ann) are comming and hopefully the little one will have a babysitter.

Sounds like a good plan.  At the flagpole as usual?

Like I said before, we've got coupons.  Alot of them!

My sister isn't arround to make potato salad again so we won't be bringing any food, but we'll be going to the store anyways for beer so we'll be picking up a few things.  Whatevers needed...

Hey guys - poor planning on my part. I guess I should have figured out what you guys looked like or had some alternate mode of communication prior to today.

I made it up to Funspot, but I was late and it didn't help matters stopping in the wrong arcade first. I had never been to Funspot before, but when I asked a friend for directions to the big arcade up in Weirs Beach, he directed me to the arcade right on the lake.

After asking for directions, I made it to Funspot around 2:00 - long after you guys left the flagpole. I asked around inside for a little bit - if anyone was there because of the forum or BYOAC and I got a lot of funny looks.

It was my first time up at Funspot, but it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the place - especially upstairs. They could do with a couple of more bathrooms though.

My friend and I pretty much stuck in the row with Galaga, Star Wars, Satans Hollow, Missile Command and Tron. I kept jumping back and forth between the last two since they were side-by-side. On an not so interesting side-note, I played the cockpit version of After Burner downstairs and almost tossed breakfast - it was a rough night on Friday.

Sorry I missed you guys - looking forward to meeting you all someday.

I wore my BYOAC hat to the first one, but everyone thought it was a lollypop.

I had my own mini-geekfest yesterday; in-between cleaning/unpacking Jen and I went down to our new local arcade (which is nothing compared to FunSpot, but it's there) and played some Galaga, Centipede and Asteroids. They've got an Ultrachode machine there and I was delighted to see that the thing was out of order  ;D
Some Asteroids wiz must live around here, everytime I go down there the hi-score is absolutely ridiculous. Yesterday it was at 999990- which is the highest it gets. Unless there's some cheat out there...

I can't believe how busy it was.  It's was like someone dropped a bunch of gremlins in the pool.  The bottom floor was flooded with little kids.

Next time PM someone that is going and get a cell phone #.  We can probably post a picture of a few of the guys and set up an alternate meeting time, say 3pm for the people that are late (there's always a few).

Yeah, when I first walked into the place my reaction was "Holy Kids!!" I think the bad weather had a lot to do with it. Maybe when we have our next meet this fall it won't be as bad with the little munchkins back in school.

I like the idea of t-shirts - it'll make it real easy to pick out fellow forum members.
