Crowquill:
I searched a short while back and didn't remember finding anything. I don't know if I'd looked in the console section since I was mainly thinking about interfacing the computer for MAME. I guess that would make sense wouldn't it.

One thing I was wondering was if anyone had set up buttons to control MAME. So far it's starting to look like I might have to hack a USB gamepad for MAME control (tab, esc, etc)

Gunstar Hero:
I was doing the Real Arcade to Adaptor to PC for awhile... worked well for everything but fighters.

My adaptors were old and sucky tho. I'm sure with a better adaptor it'll work well.

I don't see the problem. Using the PSX->USB converter, you can assign buttons in mame just like a gamepad (or any other joystick).  This includes replacing the "user interface butons" like tab, esc, ...
Gunstar Hero:
As far as MAME is concerned, the PSX stick w/adaptor IS a USB stick. You can use it for everything you could use a keyboard for in setting up MAME.

Even if I use a Dual Shock, that leaves me with 12 buttons to program for each player. If I set up each player to have a joystick and six buttons as well as coin and start that leaves me with 4 buttons each. Right now I'm trying to figure out what buttons I need to control the front end. With MacMAME the front-end is built-in, so my options are a bit more limited. What buttons (keys) are typically left to control the front-end and control MAME itself?
