Help with bottom of cab

here is what I would do.

1) cut off all of the rotted wood.  let's pretend it's a LOT....like 8 inches worth.

Make sure it is nice and level....now, you cab should sit 8 inches too low.

2) Build a box that is 8" tall with a TOP on it.

3) stack the cab on the box and make sure it is all level/square

4) on the inside, put some L-brackets in to hold it in place.

5) on the outside, put wood-putty along the seem and sand it out to make it look like one long board

6) prime and paint.

7) add wheels

You can tell how high the rot goes by poking it with a screwdriver.

I like the box idea. I might make the box smaller than the cab, like a kitchen cabinet, or I might make it larger, like a stand.

I'd make some scale drawings of what's left and experiment some.

If I really, really wanted it to have a stock appearance, I'd splice the old & the new with solid joints, but it would be tricky because you'd need to make things exactly the same size. In that case there is no reson for the top.

Thanks for all the info guys. Looks like the only thing left is to start cutting. I just hope the rot is not past the base. Berzerk cabs have the extra door. It would be a pain to deal with that.
