Is there a std way to keep track of Jamma connections? Which wire goes where?

Just bought an old cab (my 1st) and I'd like to pull everything so I can get inside and clean it up.  It's got a 4player CP connected to a Jamma board.  I can just start pulling the connectors apart and/or label each one, but I was wondering if that's necessary.

Is there a standard jamma wiring identification method based on wire color or something?  I'd just like to have the ability to reconnected each thing correctly after cleaning.

Also, what's the best way to clean the bottom of the buttons/joysticks?  They're not really dirty, just some cobwebs, but I figure if I'm going to clean the thing up, I should do it right.

Thanks

The only wire colors standardized in JAMMA is the +5 volt (red) and Ground (black). Other wires in the JAMMA harness could be ANY color depending on who manufactured it. :o

So, if I physically disconnect the wires from the controls themselves (by pulling the disconnects off the leaf-switch tabs), I either need to keep detailed notes about what-went-where or I'll be screwed when I try to put it all back together?

Well there is a standard JAMMA pinout that says that pin xx corresponds to P1B1 or coin return slot, etc etc.

Assuming your cab is wired correctly for JAMMA, and you can see where the wires are coming from on the harness, you could figure it out that way.  It might not be fun having to count out which wire is which, but it's possible.

There seems to be a bit of a color standard now based on the colors bob robert uses in his harnesses, but this does no good for old cabs.

The only reason I say that was that my new Multiwilliams panel from apollo amusements matched the color of EVERY SINGLE WIRE on my new bob roberts jamma harness.
