Advice needed: Monitor juts out from cabinet
(1/2) > >>
mkdevo:
so typically, monitors are 'recessed' in the cabinets, but mine jets out of the front. i don't mind it, i'm just wondering how i should handle it (ie, the area around it, in front of it, etc.).

you can see how it jets out in this pic:

the cabinet was originally a Sunset Riders cabinet, which i got gutted for $50. the monitor is a new WG D9200. i kinda wanted to put the monitor right in with what was there, rather than have to rig the cab to recess the monitor.

like i said, i don't mind where the monitor is, but i'm looking for advice for the area around and in front of the monitor, where a bezel/smoked plexi would typically go. there is virtually no room between the top of the monitor and the cabinet, but there is room around the sides and the bottom. just looking for some pointers for what to do with this room.

here's a picture of the front to try to give you an idea:

(and no, i'm nowhere near finished yet. the bottom front is going to be completely replaced, and will have a 4p coin door..)

thanks in advance.

I know you said you don't want to do this, but if it were mine I'd rebuild the area where the monitor mounts so that it can be recessed then put some tinted plexi in front of it.

do you mean 'jut', rather than 'jet'? i was expecting to see a pic of your monitor flying out of the cab!! it does stick out a little but you wouldnt notice when your playing anyway. if its all finished id just tidy up the surround...
