Along with the usual assortment of quick disconnects, wire, leaf switches, and single/double bitted locks, I've got some new products that I thought I'd try out.

A lot of you showed interest in tubular locks.  Now I have Illinois Lock Comapny brand Tubular locks!

http://www.pealefamily.net/cgi-bin/closedShop/Item.pl?action=ShowItem&id=15&quantity=1

So you want to be able to lock your back door, or perhaps even a maintenance front door, but your lock just spins in the hole you drilled?  No more!  Spur washers will hold your lock in place.  No more spin!

http://www.pealefamily.net/cgi-bin/closedShop/Item.pl?action=ShowItem&id=17&quantity=1

Just bought a game, and someone dragged the leg levelers over a concrete surface?  Or maybe they're just so old they've completely worn through?  Fear not, just replace your old leg levelers with new ones!  Comes complete with lock nut.

http://www.pealefamily.net/cgi-bin/closedShop/Item.pl?action=ShowItem&id=16&quantity=1

Don't forget the main site listing, of course!

Just a reminder - I take PayPal on the site, but NOT PayPal funded with a credit card.  Existing funds, bank funds and eCheck only, please.

Of course I still take plain old checks and money orders.

Peale, I think these are good additions.    I will probably order a bunch of stuff for my next cab.

People like PayPal because it's an instant transfer of funds.  I like it for this very reason.  However, I don't like *losing* money on a transaction, since I try to keep prices low, so I only use the free version of PayPal.

I'd never leave a person stranded with payment choices, so of course checks and money orders are always accepted.

How's this: I will ALWAYS sell a product that's in demand.  Right now I've sold four of them total, and there's another four in stock IIRC.  I don't know if that means they're unpopular, or if people just didn't know they were there.

Either way, in your case I'd order now.  Someone else snags the last set, at the rate I'm selling them I wont' be replenishing stock any time soon.

Someone was inquiring earlier about the single bitted locks, as they were reading OOS.  Checked, I've got 19 of them, for those who were wondering.

The double bitted ones are indeed OOS.

Just wanted to let you guys know that those corner protectors are fantastic. My MVS has really banged up corners and these things will totally hide all the damage. I'm pretty sure Peale only had a couple left in stock after I ordered mine so if anyone else needs a set you'd better get them quick. This is $8 well spent if your cab has chunks knocked out of the corners.

Does it have the Visa/MasterCard logo on it?  Then it acts like a credit card.

Is that $6 shipped for the QD's?  Didn't want to add to cart and find out, as I didn't know if you fixed that add to cart/deleting from stock problem.  Any discount on shipping, (even though it's included) if I bought 3 or 4 packs?

Yup, that's shipped.

No discount, sorry.  Shipping actually get exponentially more expensive the more that's added.  You wouldn't think it would, as they're small and fairly light.  But it really suprises me sometimes how much it actually costs.

The ones I do have are already destined for others.  Sorry.

I may re-run this again in the future, if there's sufficient interest.  This isn't the thread to discuss it in, though.

Have you got the red in 50 foot rolls yet? I checked, but still don't see it listed. I also want those five joystick leaf switches that you have, but want to wait to order them when I can order the wire at the same time. Can you hold those for me or should I go ahead and order them now?

It's easy really...
PayPal charges him for $$$ for every transaction after he starts accepting Credit/Debit...
It takes money from his pocket.
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

That's exactly it.  I'm barely making anything on these as it is, almost nothing, really.  I do it pretty much to help people who can't find stuff locally.  If I upgraded my account, I'd have to raise prices.  Heck, as it is I'm tempted to drop PayPal altogether, but then almost no one would order.  As it is right now, I get very few orders.

If PayPal would only charge for credit card transactions, I might do it, but when you upgrade you are hit for *every* transaction.  If the orders were larger, I also might consider it, but on a transaction of say...six dollars, they take about a buck.  A buck on $20 or even $30 isn't bad, but a buck on a $6.00 transaction (which is average for me) wipes me out.

But hey, if you guys want me to raise prices...   ;D

If you have a checking account, you can always do an eCheck thru PayPal.  That doesn't require an upgrade, but it does take a few days to clear.

And here's something that is even more messed up with paypal.   Not only do they nickel and dime you to death but if you attempt to try to charge a paypal fee to offset their fees, they threaten to cancel your account.  In other words, they want their money but they want to keep it a dirty little secret as well.  I quit accepting paypal once they literally ended up taking 20-30% of my transactions from the nickel and dime stuff.

I'm able to get a massive deal on single and double bitted locks right now.  For those of you who have ordered from me in the past, they'll be the same lock number.

Okay, quick disconnects should be here soon.  I didn't get the single bitted locks, I only got double.    Here's the good part: I got both 7/8" and 1 1/8", so those of you with Midway coin doors can use them!  They're also good for back doors, since they pass thru the wood much easier.

Hey Peale,

I'm interested in a wiring kit.  I trust you with my credit card number.  I really don't want to have to write a check or get a money order from the bank.  You can charge me an extra buck or two for credit card processing.  You're still way cheaper than the Shack.  What do you think?

I'd still have to upgrade my PayPal account.  Then I'd get the fees on *all* transactions.

PayPal has an 'eCheck' option, that you can use your check, online, kind of like a credit card.  I mention this, since you state above the check thing, and I assume from this you have a checking account.

Understood.  I guess I didn't consider that you couldn't process the card number to get the funds without upgrading your account.  Thanks a lot for the quick reply.  I'll look into that echeck option, although for some reason I don't want to use Paypal for anything but verification, so if they want my bank account #, etc., then it's a no-go for me.  I still want the wiring kit.  I'll get the darn money order or write a check if I have to and PM you when I figure it out.  I just place an order on your website and then send you the check or money order in the mail, then you send me the wiring kit when the money clears, right?  Thanks again for the quick reply.

Ken,

I can launder it for you.  PayPal it to my account, which is upgraded for credit cards, and I can relay it.  Would you mind kicking in a couple of bucks for the fees?

Peale, can you accept money from my PayPal but ship it to him?

I think that'll work.

I *do* have an option on my site for checks and money orders, FYI.

I'm fairly certain that if you transfer the funds to your paypal account from your credit card you may then pay Peale with your paypal balance which will not require Peale to upgrade his account!

Someone should try it that wants to order from him, if we find out for sure it'll probably make things alot easier for everyone...

 ;)

P.S. You'll probably have to wait a couple more days that way, because you'll have to wait for two transfers instead of 1 but I don't know.

No, that doesn't work.  If there are funds there already (say, if someone sends him money) he can send that without issue.  PayPal will use the credit card as the primary source of funds if there is no bank account attached, or if there is no balance.

It's great!  If you want to pay for an eBay auction.  They won't allow you to pay for other things.

At least, not the last time I tried to use them for something other than an auction payment.

Hey Peale,

Subbing in Kindergarten today, no time to get back to you, but let's go with the money order on this one.  I want to say thanks very very much to Chris for the offer, but I just decided it isn't that big of a deal to get a money order and send it to you.  Not exactly tickling my impulse buying nerve, but, hey, when faced with a deal.  So I'll go ahead and give the online checkout on your site a whirl.  Thanks again.

Okee dokee.  You might want to wait until the stock is updated.  I should have everything by Friday.  I hope!

Notes for international buyers: contact me for purchases.  Since the shipping is built into the prices of the items, it doesn't apply.  And I just found about flat rate shipping.  Contact me for quotes.

I do.  If they're reading as out on the site, sorry about that.  I'll fix that in the AM.

Once they're gone, they're gone.  I'm restocking the double bitted locks, and getting some 1 1/8" double bitted.  Same key as always, 1382.

I now have 7/8" Barrel Locks, double bitted, all keyed alike.  For those of you who got the last I had, this is the same key.

I also have 1 1/8" with the same key, but I haven't put them on the site yet.   These work with Midway doors.

Peale --

I think you are doing a great service for everyone.

I do want to warn you however that dealing with PayPal (as a receiver of funds), in any way, shape, or form, is VERY risky. Especially for you since you are repeatedly selling to numerous people, not a single random one time transaction here and there.

Since you havn't upgraded your account to accept credit cards, you basically have ZERO seller protection. As your hobby becomes more well known, you know there will be someone who will attempt to take advantage of you and file a "non-receipt" complaint with PayPal. Since you are not covered by seller protection, PayPal will yank any related funds from your account AND flag you as a "potential problem".

Everyone knows about the huge amount of buyer fraud through illegal credit/debit card "chargebacks" (e.g. www.paypalwarning.com, www.nopaypal.com) but there is also a large amount of PP fraud with simple quasi-cash transactions, since the buyers know the seller is lacking all protection.  Read about the problems and possible solutions here:  http://www.fatwallet.com/t/67/393725/  (the OFFICIAL Paypal Dispute / Chargeback Defense Thread & FAQ for SELLERS)

Hopefully no one will take advantage of you, but unfortunately, I know how Paypal works and as a receiver of money, you are the lowest on the totem pole in their eyes, not at the top like it should be.

Thanks for the advice.  I know about the risks.  Luckily the transactions I deal with are small ones (usually under $30) so if they do decide to file a report, I'm not out a terrible lot of money.  Plus, I'll make sure that their name is blacklisted, so hopefully they won't do it to someone else.

I had mentioned these locks before, but not placed them on the site.  1 1/8" double-bitted barrel locks.  These are for back doors and Midway style coin doors.

http://pealefamily.net/cgi-bin/closedShop/Item.pl?action=ShowItem&id=24&quantity=1

Edit: forgot to mention that they use the exact same key as the 7/8" double bitted lock.

No credit card funds!

I must be missing something, cause I never understood what the difference is if my PayPal account is connected to my MasterCard or my bank account. The seller gets his money the moment I pay either way.
I have missed some nice stuff on eBay just because the seller didn't want to take my money...

Could someone please explain to me what I'm missing? Why does some seller care where my money comes from? What's the difference? ???

It's not *where* your money comes from, it's the fees involved.  I know I've explained it in this thread before, but I'll give it another go.

PayPal has two types of accounts: personal and premiere.  With a personal account you're able to accept up to $500 a month.  You can take bank funds, funds from someone's account, or what's called an eCheck.  And you can do these things with no fees.

The premiere account can accept much more money per month (I know there's a limit, but not sure what it is).  It's the same as the personal account, with the added benefit of being able to accept credit cards.

The problem is the fees.  You're charged a fee for *all* transactions with the premiere account, not just the credit card transactions.  And since I'm barely making a profit on these parts, any fees would eat that right up, plus as an added bonus, because the margin is so tight, it would eat into my costs as well, so I'd be *losing* money.  I really like you guys, but...

Of course, I can always raise prices, but I don't think anyone wants that, right?

I dunno!  Get a ruler/tape measure and let me know.  The  buttons can ship with different switches.

Sorry to drag up an old post, but...

If PayPal would only charge for credit card transactions, I might do it, but when you upgrade you are hit for *every* transaction.

All right, I may have exagerated a little.  I'm still not going to change my terms.

It just sucks on smaller transactions is all.  Since most of my transactions are just that - small - it takes a chunk.

I *might* consider it, IF people don't mind the price hike.

Still, though, I suspect that the vast majority of PayPal transactions are direct bank transfers, so it's probably not a huge issue.

With this exception: once you upgrade, *all* transactions are charged a fee, not just credit card transactions.

Right, which is why the upgrade probably isn't worthwhile if those transactions are in the minority.

The disconnects are going fast!  Best to order now before they're gone!

Sometimes people can't find 1 1/8" bits to drill holes for their control panel.  No longer!  I now have 1 1/8" spade bits available!

I know there's no picture yet, give me a bit.
