NEED CAB DIMENSIONS

Pages: << < (4/6) > >>

Nemo22:

I looked at that site you posted (orntar's), and tried to come up with something based on the fact that his cab was 25.5" across (inner measurement).

See attached picture.  It totals 73.5" tall, I'm not sure if this is too tall, just right/etc.  Base is 24", and the CP sticks out 6.5" maximum.  Each corner is rounded using a 2" disc from what i could tell (didn't add that in).  The hump at the back was added by eyeballing from the MVS-4-25 (V1) cab picture, removing it is what i got from orntar's.

I hope these are accurate enough, or at least a base to start with.  I like the design of this cab as well, hence why i drew these up.

And i hope the attached image isn't too big.

Flinkly:

hey, thanks for the help...i'm also trying to get a trace from an actual cab from a couple people, but no answers as of yet.  your meausrements seem close, but orntar also changed the dimensions to fit the tv he was sticking inside the cab, as well as other minor adjustments...if you'd also like to have the "actual" dimensions whenever i get them, do you want me to post them for you? (since you said you liked the look of the cab)

strange how the first person whose given me something to go off of is a newbie...i guess everyone else has lost their zeal to help others as much as possible no matter the consequence, but i guess that always happens.

Nemo22:

Well, from reading his main page, he's using a 27" tv which made the inside dimensions 25.5" as opposed to 24", and he says the profile was taken from a 4 slot cab at a pizza place.  So, the width is just 1.5" more then standard, and the side profile is pretty much identical.

From looking at a picture of an MVS-4-25 v1 cab, there is 1 difference I can see right off the bat (its not critical), otherwise, looks pretty much identical to me ;)

But, ya, if you get the actual dimensions, i'd like them as well, don't think they'll be too far off from this one tho.

Based on this one, already have something worked out with swapable CPs, and debating on an LCD monitor (just for space since a 27" would stick out the back, and easier to rotate too), and this is my 2nd design, just gotta decide which one to go with now!, or come up with a 3rd heh.

Now I've got to take issue with you, as you seemed to be just impatient, but stating something like that reads to me like you're not impatient, but the "gimme gimme gimme" type of person that no one SHOULD care about if you get what you want, as you don't seem thankful or appreciative of the help offered to you thus far.  I'd define such a person as an ingrate.

Perhaps you can use this to realize that, indeed, you have NOT exactly carved yourself a little spot in anyone's heart to cause them to want to aid you.  Click here for a link that is QUITE contrary to your view, (see Wizard's "lack of zeal ::) " I have found people here (that I would vehemently disagree with personally) to be the most helpful people, and willing to go out of their way to help others.

It'd also help if you wouldn't be constantly telling us how hard/dumb/expensive/not-your-fault/program-acting-up it is to find your information, yet talk about how WE "lost our zeal to help someone".  Maybe you haven't realized it, but YOU don't have a "zeal" to help YOURSELF!  Read some of your very own words:

--- Quote from: Flinkly on October 22, 2004, 04:12:07 pm ---...but there isn't any. i haven't been to all the bowling alleys or pizza places, but the ones i haven't been to i wouldn't expect to have any or very nice arcade games...plead with everyone on byoac main forum to help me out and to (i'm thinking) measure the cab they have, or a friend has, cause one of you guys has got to have a mvs cab.

Funny how you "know" one of us has to have a cab, and how you think certain places "wouldn't have any or very nice arcade games".  Kreskin, start your own psychic hotline ::)

--- Quote from: Flinkly on October 24, 2004, 01:54:17 am ---i guess the fact that i'm spending alot to make a cabinet in the first place pushes me to make a nice one the first time....the model of cab i like isn't incredibly old (aka, cheap to buy)

I guess your "zeal" doesn't extend to buying "the ultimate cabinet" ::)  Funny how you can't seem to find it worthwhile to go all out, but we should, in an effort to help you...and in case we missed it, you continue to beseech us, as was shown here
--- Quote from: Bgnome on October 22, 2004, 12:24:45 pm ---I have noticed that you have requested many times.  you even have an old thread on this:
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=25408;start=msg208973#msg208973

if the mvs-4-25 v3 isnt good enough for you then why dont you say so?
--- End quote ---

With all the help offered to you, with you continuing to act as if certain things are out of the realm of possibility for us to expect of you (like reading all the way to page 2 ::) of a thread YOU should be looking at, or telling us how your Acrobat is acting up, but never telling us if that solved your problem).  You continue, in almost all of your posts to say (and I quote)
--- Quote from: Flinkly on October 24, 2004, 01:54:17 am ---thanks for the support in my persuit of happiness.
--- End quote ---

--- Quote from: Flinkly on October 22, 2004, 04:12:07 pm ---but again, thanks for all the help you guys have given so far.

--- Quote from: Flinkly on October 22, 2004, 12:12:43 pm ---any help is appreciated.

you then have the unmitigated gall to say something as rude as "guess you've lost your zeal to help others"?!?!?  :o

After reading the words you type, the attitude I sense, and the cheap shot at the members here, I now have serious doubts as to just how well you have been looking for the information on your own.  I get the feeling you are hoping someone here does all the hard work for you, but if not, you feel you're "helping the process" by taking jabs at some of the most knowledgeable people on a VARIETY of subjects in some twisted effort to "motivate" us.

You may view this as an attack on you from someone who hasn't offered any help to you, but I can't sit here and watch you bash a group that has shown integrity time and again in helping others without standing up for them.  It would be giving you the impression that you can do it again and continue to get away with it.

Quite frankly, I'd sooner help MrC with his real-world endeavors right now than to assist someone who shows so little regard for the very people he is asking help from.

The only "zeal we've lost" is in helping someone intent on speaking from one side of his mouth to tell us our help offered isn't useful at all, while out of the other side of his mouth is telling us how much he appreciates "any help you can give".

Flinkly:

i wasn't trying to make a jab at anyone, so i'm sorry that you took it so offensively.  being a newbie, i don't quite consider myself part of the group yet, or i would refer to the byoac as "we", but i think this community is great for preservationists, mamers, and all sorts of people who find themselves here looking for pertinent answers.

just recently there was a thread where, if i was reading it right, a paralyzed person who had enjoyed playing video games prior to their accident was asking about controlers that would be useful to her since they have lost most control of their hands.  because of the communities helpfullness and spirit, several people came foreward to offer useful input and some are even offering to make controllers for the person for free.

on the other hand, there are people, like everywhere in the world, who sometimes help others when the question is good enough to answer, and if they believe the question is stupid enough, they reply with degrading remarks.  i just thought it was funny that the person who came up with dimensions for a mvs cabinet was a fellow newbie.  and then i commented that possibly this was because we are on the same level, the same zealous persuit of arcade happiness, where everyone in this forum starts so they can build their dream, and then when their finished, they do lay back and take a less zealous approach to the forum...it's life, i'm not trying to call you all jerks, and i'm sorry it came accross that way.

and as for my impatience, i am impatient at this point in my project.  over the last 6 months i have aquired all my parts (over 1000 dollars), and designed somewhat of a cp, but since in that time through my persuit everywhere, i haven't found one person that could possibly help me on the internet or in person, most people never even replied to my e-mails or posts, so i'm sorry for taking that out on the community here at the byoac, i sincerely apologize.  and yes, at the end of every post i thank the people who give me input and directions to head in because i know that they don't have to help me, and they are because they want to, and i appreciate that.  and i'm sorry for shooting peoples ideas down, but over six months of research on the web, i've taken most roads that can be traveled, and found nothing usefull to what i'm looking for.  so everyone please except my apology, if you haven't stopped reading already, because i mean it...and thanks again for everyone whos looked over this post and tried to help, wether you've posted or not.
