Im trying to convert my g/f into a gamer, the only thing she really plays on her own is the SNES mario games. Weve been goin out for like 3 1/2 years, and I always tell her when we get married and get a place were gonna have 2 computers so we can play MMORPGs together. and shes just like ok sure honey. I told her its a requirement im going to put into my vows lol. So im trying to get her started now on gaming a little, whats some good stuff to get her playing? Probably co-op games would be best that arent too complicated to get her started. We used to play Mario Party a lot on GC, have 4 & 5. And she started getting pretty good at the mini-games, but those games got boring after a while , too much wating in between turns.

Summary: does your wife/girlfriend play, what games if so, and what games are good starters

its called a "prenuptual agreement" ;)
ive been trying to get my wife into gaming for years and she enjoys it somewhat now.  she likes the 3d platformers that arent too complicated or frustrating.  she cant handle anything that requires a whole lot of action or dying a lot.  we mostly play on the ps2 so i can recommend some stuff there..

Adventures of Cookies and Cream -- old budget title, simple platformer/puzzle coop and a whole lotta fun

Shrek 2 -- also coop and cutesy.  somewhat childish and got repetitive after a while..

Metal Slug X -- as long as she gets infinite continues she can deal with it.. ;)

unfortunately, theres not a WHOLE lot of coop games that are easy to pick up, and thus wife friendly, so thats why i got her into platformers like Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, ICO, etc.

ive got a GC too and have Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and 2 GBAs but havent gotten the chance to get into that yet..

as for MMORPGs, the problem is finding a good one for the casual gamer and having to pay double for 2 accounts.  it really sucks ass when you get 10 lvls ahead of your wife and suddenly can't group anymore..  the only one that really piques my interest is Guild Wars, (NO monthly fee!!!) which should be out soon.  you could always try a free / open beta one but i havent found any that grabbed me like AC/EQOA/FFXI did..

My girlfriend loves to game... something I didn't even really know when we first started going out, but I learned very early on.

And she's not a "girl that likes games" either.... she's a gamer.  She will hand you some serious competition in most fighting games, loves platformers and action games, etc.  She also loves puzzle games, as most gals seem to.  She's actually excited about me getting my machine up and running sometime this century, so hopefully that means I'll have the green light for many more machines if we wind up together for good.

I just finished helping her set up her new gaming computer, we finished up her custom modded xbox a few weeks back.... I really am a lucky jerk, heh.

As you can see, I didn't really need "starter" games for my gf, but I've found puzzle games always attract women, as well as party games like you mentioned.  Anything that gets a group involved is great, or is simple yet compelling for two people to play.  Uo Poko caught my girl's eye immediately, Mario Party, Ms. Pac, stuff like that.

Good luck converting her ;)

I've been losing the "getting my girlfriend to game" battle for 5 years now.  While I have had some successes, it's a losing war I think.  Things that have worked for me:

Adventures of Cookies & Cream (PS2)
Animal Crossing (GC) - BIGtime
Hello Kitty Cube Frenzy (PS1)
Um Jamma Lammy (PS1)

I just got Katamari Damarcy (PS2) for this sole purpose, and I hope to get her playing that by Halloween.  She likes "cute" games.

I also would LOVE to have her play a MMORPG with me, or even some other co-op games like FF:CC or Zelda: Four Swords.  5 years later and still no success.

She has never even touched my arcade cabinet once - even when some of her friends were playing!  And I've had that up and running for 2 years now!

See, the problem is that she "tricked" me into thinking she was interested in games before we started dating.  She bought a PS1, and had Soul Blade and Tomb Raider 2 and she 'said' that she was playing sometimes when I called her.  Now I don't believe she ever played them.  That's false advertising and grounds for breakup correct?

Point - how about a trade?

i got katamari damacy as well.  i have enjoyed it, but i dont think she has gotten past the learning curve as well as i would have hoped.  the game is not very lenient with slow rollers..  :-\
but i have unlocked the 3 eternals and hopefully, she can get a bit more out of it..
