Wiring Grounds together
(1/1)
dmish82:
I just had a basic wiring question. I plan on wiring my grounds from Button 1 to button 2 to button 3, etc so that I have less wire clutter. My question is that after i connect the final ground wire I know it needs to run to the ground on the ipac but does another ground wire need to run back to the very first button i initially wired? i.e. if i wired button 1 first and finished with button 6 do i need another wire to run from button 6 to button 1?  Thanks.

Or yes.  You could run a wire back to the first one and that would work.   The added benefit of completing the loop is that if the loop is broken in any one place you'd still be grounded from both directions...

One ground with a break between switches 4 and 5:
GROUND ---switch---switch---switch---switch-/  /-switch---switch
The last two swittches get cut off.

If you complete the chain and have both ends go to ground:
GROUND ---switch---switch---switch---switch-/  /-switch---switch---GROUND
The last two switches still have ground.

If you have the extra wire it would be a good idea to go ahead and complete the chains.

Thanks. I think I'll go this route to be on the safe side. Thanks again.
