What I am wondering is, how can I get the same type  of setup to where it is still a gun that you are using(not a joystick, mouse, or trackball) but it uses the joystick/mouse hack technology? It just wouldn't be the same on the mame cab playing T2 with a joystick or a trackball and no gun.

I think I know what you mean...but Lilwolf already explained...

Basically T2 etc. guns were effectively an analog joystick which looked like a gun.  So you can either get a T2 gun and interface to your PC (AKI or Dual Strike hack etc.), or get an analog joystick and stick a gun case onto it (!).  Either way it might be difficult to calibrate the movement of the gun to the relative on-screen sight - possible tho.

I hope you don't mean that.

A mouse, I don't think, could be hacked as a lightgun, they are different technologies.  It's like expecting to peel a coconut like an apple.

I follow you now. Do you have a link for the aki or dualstrike hack?

SirPoonga:

www.1uparcade.com for the duel strike hack.  Though any joystick can be used, this is a good idea to show you what needs to be done.

The dual strike hack looks interesting, but as of this moment there are no T2 guns on ebay. I suppose I'll have to keep checking back on this. What type of analog joystick would work well then if it comes down to me just getting 2 guns and placing them on the analog joystick?
