No right or left on joys in mame only? FIXED

Tries a search but has no luck...

I'm using win98, mamewah, mame, ipac-ve. In windows or mamewah, I have all 4 directions on my joysticks. Once I load a game, I only have up and down.

Where did right and left go?

I'm sure this is something simple and previously discussed, but I just can't find it.

TIA

Dave.

Did that... left is left arrow, right is right arrow. Both in mame and in notepad.

again I'm guesssing here cause you really did not specify exaclty what is what but here is my guess again.

Maybe the game you loaded is suppose to be only UP and DOWN .

No. Gyruss, Pac man, robotron, Galaga... Some random games as well. Tried known 8-way, 4-way, 2-way, etc. I have all 4 directions in notepad and mamewah. Only up & down register in mame. Regular command line mame v.86.

Added: This is also not joystick specific, as both an 8-way and 4-way share the inputs and have the same effect. Joys are verified to be wired correctly, so it has to be in the software.
