Unfortunately, it's not easy to judge in advance what the optimum joystick height should be until you've built your control panel and tested it with a few games. But it's quite easy to lower a joystick that is too high by making a wooden spacer. So I think the safest approach is to start off with a joystick that is as high as possible and then lower it if necessary.

Also, I think that if you do decide to get these plates manufactured, you should ensure that they are compatible with both bolt patterns for maximum flexibility. It's weird that IL didn't do this when they designed the T-Stik's plate. All they needed to do was make the plate a bit bigger and drill 4 extra holes.

I've just spent 10 minutes staring at the rectangle pattern of holes on my t-stick and the square pattern on my arcade cabinet for  wondering how i could have missed such a detail... :-[

as a result i too would be interested in a conversion mounting plate  ;)

My cabinet has a very thin metal panel so idealy the plate would be as thin as possible so i could just attach the sticks to them and then that to the cabinet leaving as much stick height as possible.

Agreed, like Sanwa do with the J-Stik plates.

I realize this is a very old thread, but did anything ever come about from this?

Best answer to the problem I have seen is here:
