2- or 4-coin buttons?

I'm a little confused about how this works. I thought I read somewhere that there were games that had to have discreet 1, 2, 3, & 4 buttons. I don't remember if it was for the player start or the coins. Any thoughts?
I am building a 4-player panel and want to get it right the 1st time ???

Yeah, some games require four coin slots and four start buttons. If you want to accommodate all four player games, you need some way of registering a coin and a credit for all four players.

I think you can just wire 2 buttons to coin 1 & 3, and 2 &4 on your encoder. This would have no effect with 2 player games, and you would getcredits for both players in a 4 player game. Can you ever have too many credits?? NOt a perfect solution, but if it does not bother you.....
