I was thinking about making a special secondary control panel for use with other emulators and such. does anyone have any Ideas for a good 2 player layout for N64, PSX, and SNES (maybe XBox etc. not as important). I am trying to think of which sticks and layout I should use; all of the button layouts I have thought of are very ugly. Has anyone actually done this? |

Sounds like a cool idea! It seems like for N64 you would need an analog joystick, but for PSX and SNES you would need regular 8-ways. You may end up wanting to make a modular CP. I have tried playing N64 games with 8-way pads and I can tell you that it is very hard. As far as CP layout, I really have no clue. It |

N-64 games work really well with a 49-way stick. |

Really? What about games where you have to be able to move the stick just a little bit? What if you are aiming in 007 or going around a light curve in Mario Kart? |

I came up with a crappy mock-up ala paint(sorry at work). basically it is like a sf layout with an extra button row on top and the z button is below like some people do for neo geo panels. I'd like it to work with most n64 games(will I need a 8way stick too?). It would be nice to be able to come up with something that will work with the PSX style controllers too. I guess I could move the z button up to the top row and sort of pigeon toe it in --making the top row z start l r for n64 and l2 l1 r1 r2 for ps. I'll make another drawing in a bit. Would two sticks look too crowded on such a large control design? |
