Beatmania-Style Spinner
Effayy:
About 2 minutes ago I had the bright idea to include a beatmania-style removable panel to my not-yet-completed cab.
the question I have is, does anyone know of a place that sells specific beatmania parts? I'd be personally inquiring about the turntable spinner. I'd want the control panel to look/feel as close to the arcade as possible, so instead of hacking a spinner with an old used 45 turntable, I'd like to try for original parts and hack them instead. ;)

What does the BM deck feel like? Different to a 'real' deck?
(sorry haven't played it :-[ )

I think someone would be able to hack a mixman or other USB mix deck.
I had done a search awhile back and wasn't having any luck coming up with parts without buying an upgrade kit ($$$$).

Well, the general feel isn't all that off, but I have extremely limited experience with spining a real deck, so I'm just going by memory. Size of BM is smaller than a 45 I believe, and has more resistance than a standard deck, but not so much that it's a huge effort to spin.
PS. If you do try to play it someday, try it in the arcade before MAME. The first couple of tries are frustrating, and after that it's just too addictive. Much like DDR :)

They sell decent looking ps2 ones out there.
They would probably be worth it just for the turn table part. I dont know if their buttons are arcade quality and should be replaced.
But a good start
now, I don't know if they would work with a ps -> usb adapter.... Or if further hacks would be needed.
btw, are beatmanias any fun? They look pretty good, but without the proper controls, I didn't try and get into them.
