Hardware store strike replacement?
« on: August 28, 2002, 10:04:12 am »
I wanted to secure my control panel with the same panel clamp assembly that came with it (mostly due to a lack of imagination on my part =P )

The problem is, that I have the two clamps, but not the 2 strikers that it "clamps" on to...

Is there a hardware store equivalent to the little catch plate stiker thing?

Happs sells em paired with the clamps... http://www.happcontrols.com/index.html?http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/acesor/49005900.htm!

Damn that 25 bean minimum order, damn it to hell!  (actually, there's so many "small" things to pick up to "finish" a given cab... I could see surpassing that several times over ... but I'm trying to get by initially on a spartan budget... )

Just wondering if anyone else found a hardware store solution to this issue...

thanks

I would LOVE to hear a good solution if anyone has one... but my trouble is that I have multiple control panels (and the stuff to make about 10 more...)

but they aren't clamped down yet... just so tight fitting that they stay (most of the time)... trouble is the older the cp gets... the looser it gets

hmm.. since I can't find what i'm looking for yet (still looking for any advice/naming convention for the type of latch catch/strike i'm looking for)  I ended up looking at childproofing doors/cabinets etc hardware... they make a plethora of clamps/latches that are easily manipulated by an adult to open things but if you don't hit the safety/etc won't pull off (unless you he-man it off... it's made to deter a toddler not lou ferrigno)

just a thought... need to go look at this stuff in person and see what'll work... or if I can find a matching strike/catch loose at Aces/homedepot/.etc
