DOOM II Cabinet: Does it exist?
<< < (4/6) > >>
Yander:
I live in Grosse Pointe! How come I have never seen one of these  ;D
BLACK KNIGHT:
Heretic was great!!  I know you needed a mouse for that one because that is the first FPS that I recall you being able to fly in!  If you got the wings that is.  The other new and cool thing about that game was getting the egg and turning people into chickens!
Zakk:
Chook cannon rules!
Grasshopper:
It's a real shame that arcade manufacturers have ignored first person shooters. I think Doom would work very well in an arcade. People say that FPS games can only played properly with a keyboard and mouse but I'm not so sure. I think a trackball with buttons and/or a joystick would work just as well.

Games tend to be designed around the controls that are available on the hardware platform being used. All the early FPS games were originally designed for PCs but were then later ported to consoles. If FPS games had originally been designed for arcade machines or consoles and then ported to PCs then we'd probably regard playing them with a keyboard and mouse as unnatural.

Just a thought.
