I'm not sure, but I think both Duke Nukem and Dark Forces use the mouse to look up/down, and wouldn't work very well, unfortunately.

You could run Zdoom or ZdoomGL and get higher resolutions if that's important to you.

This is just a cool idea.

Having just played The Grid (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=G&game_id=8010) the last time I was in Atlantic City, I think that a combination joystick/trackball would work well for most Doom-like games in an arcade machine.

LsLSpamMatt:

Eric,

I don't plan on having a trackball... I just don't see being able to play doom worth the extra hundred bucks  :)

Anyone who puts doom on their cabs,  I would suggest getting the Legacy port of the doom source code.  It enables 2 player split screen DM on 1 computer, which would probably be fun on a cabinet.

Just a matter of getting the controls set up comfortably...
Shoot, open, the four directions on the joystick, with 2 strafe buttons, and you're good to go I would think.

If nothign else, it's just another degree of novelty.

I just got DOOM set up on my cab and all you need is

UP
DOWN
LEFT
RIGHT

SHOOT
STRAFE
OPEN

ahh the good ole days

On another note..

OUTLAWS doesnt need a mouse,  You can but you dont have to. It says on the webpage.

What about:

Heretic
Rise of the Triad
Blood
Chasm

I'm pretty sure the playing field was "level" thoughout and a mouse wasen't needed. Don't quote me though...it's been so long.

I really need to load these games back up. ::goes searching::

Bad News I loaded them up and they all have the look around mouse feature. Looks like you'll have to go really oldschool with Blake Stone and Wolfenstein.
