It's very important that you measure the voltage, with ANY adaptor. I've had ones that were supposed to be ~6V that were reading ten or HIGHER. So I finally found a 5V one that was putting out just about that much (actually about 5.1V IIRC) which works fine. Remember that it's designed to have a slight voltage drop as the batteries start to wear, so 5V is acceptable. I wouldn't go much below that, of you'll exhibit graphics glitches. --- End quote --- Now you tell me! ::) ;) I think that's what blew out the LED in the first place. I would recommend anyone hacking the power supply of one of these units to start LOW and add voltage as necessary....don't make the mistake I made and start out with 6 thinking you're fine. I believe 5 would be enough, I think even 3 was working, but below that the graphics got funky. Seriously, thanks for the info Peale, you confirmed what I suspected. |
