Snap Shots-A way to auto rename to png??

Hi,
I am running Lazarus and the snaps require that the shots be in png format..I have 2 problems. When I take a snap of say rom Ghouls_N_Ghosts [!].zip it usually saves it as Ghouls_N_Ghosts [!]_0000.bmp is there a easy way to take a bunch of those and make it the correct name to match the rom? without doing each one manually? thats a lot!! also is there a to then change it to .png automatically all at once

I've told you this before... renaming a file to png does not convert the file format. It has to be converted. Also when you take a snap in mame it does not add the extra numbers on to the name unless there is already a file there. It also saves it in png format unless you have a goofy build of mame. I use ifan view to batch convert files to png for the record... you point to the dir and go.

Hey Howard,
Maybe I was misiturped..Mame shots work fine.. its the othe rones like SNES, NES, GENESIS they add _000 or a number of 00000 to the file ie) Jim.zip would be Jim_00000.bmp or something. When I said I save them in PNG what I do is open it in the paint paint prog in XP and resave as a png..it works..it converts it for you.
As for the batch program...can u explain where I can get it? but what of the _0000 it adds when I take snaps?

Just do a google search for irfan view... it's pretty popular. You can't get rid of the zeros unfortunately... they'll have to be renamed manually.

OK my frontend MAMEWah allows you to do SOME of this annoying work:
It will rename snapshot filenames for you in order to be the same as the ROM name (apart from extension of course). It will not however convert the image type - you will have to do this as described earlier (MAMEWah allows .PNG, .GIF, .PCX, .JPG & .BMP images).
For a description of how to set it up for Gens (eg romname_000.bmp) visit http://mamewah.mameworld.net/Emulators.html . I'm pretty sure it should work with most emulators as well.
Having said all that, this was written to help if you are TAKING snaps now - ie not if you already have a bunch of snapshots. BUT it will still work, so long as you PLAY each game (but don't take a new snapshot). Does that make sense??
If you've got a load of snaps to take, use MAMEWah to rename them, run a batch process to convert to PNG, and go back to Lazarus :) Or just use MAMEWah ;) he he
