How do you turn on tv when its mounted inside of a cabinet?

One other thing to try would be to actually hack the TV. Just wire a button onto the existing one. However, this would require opening the TV (read disclaimer below). It would be much neater but, again, a bit risky.

TVS ARE VERY HIGH POWER. OPEN AT OWN RISK. If you haven't read the warnings yet, do so now. TVs retain energy for a very long time after being unplugged.

Instead of connecting the TV power button to an arcade controls, I connected a cheap universal TV remote's power button to an arcade pushbutton.  Then I extended the IR emitter to the front of the TV, so when you press the button the remote turns the TV on.

I've been trying to tackle the same problem and here's the solution I came up with:

I've got a Sharp 25" T.V. with S-video that I plan to use.  It doesn't have the auto-power on after power loss.  However, if I can keep the power button down it will.  All I have to do is find the best way to keep the power button on the T.V. pressed down.

Why not just go to Home Depot and buy a 15A or greater rocker switch and mount that either on the back or under the CP. Then you wire the tv directly to that or if you want to have an outlet you can wire it to a power strip or buy an outlet at Home depot while you are at it and wire the outlet to the switch. Then you can power on the whole cab with one flick of a switch.

I have a rocker switch on my cab, it works awesome.

I bought a 21' flat panel tv (daewoo brand) The coolest part is that it has a convex ?? (dome shaped) on/off button. Soooo all I did was mount the tv where I wanted , applied the monitor bezel ( I have a flat monitor bezel not a 3D one)and plexi tight up to that button and all I have to do is touch a spot on the plexi where that button is behind and the tv comes on. Very cool.... and the kids think its MAGIC!!
