I think most people with an arcade cab prefer to run at native resolutions. For MAME purposes 640x480 is too much and introduces a lot of stretch artifacts.

I'd be interested in this solution if it would work in native arcade resolutions only.

Also, some (optional) adapter to make it compatible with the PS1, PS2, Dreamcast and Saturn would be very nice!

From the site:

--- Quote ---Patented ScreenFlash Technology, no blank screen rendering required

hmmm... does this mean it flashes (blanks) the screen or not? The technology name contradicts what they are saying. It's the rendering of a blank screen that introduces the annoying screen flash.

Also did anyone notice the pricing on this thing? Its $160 for the  optical board that interfaces with the UGCI, which will set you back another $160. And then you still have to buy the HAPPs guns...

I don't get it

That would be incorrect.  Most people don't change their mame.ini file resolution.  They keep it at auto.  Most likely they are playing the game above 640x480.  Turn verbose on and see what you are doing.
