Can't wait to see pics. I'm surprised you powered it up so soon. I usually vaccuum out the dead spiders and crap like that before trusting such an old machine. I have a working 1976 Atari Dominos. Needs some aesthetic improvements, but it's a "quaint" little cab to have in a collection. |

A lot of those 70s games had some big caps in them, and those caps are a minimum of 30 years old now and could possibly be up to 35 years old (depends on how much shelf time the caps saw before they were used). --- End quote --- Do you need to replace them with the exact same size and specification? Just curious if there is a thread on this already maybe... My desert combat 1977 works (mostly) but the screen rolls around a bit, more like a quick shaking in circles. Would replacing all the capacitors in this thing potientially clear it up? There are 2 in it that are just massive in size as far as caps go I have never seen then this big before :-) they don't appear to be attached to the monitor or don't look like they are part of the video, but they are on the main board that the other 3 come off of... here is a picture of the two caps. I bet they are 3 inches tall and at least 1.5 inches in diameter... |

recap your monitor on the desert patrol, likely a common monitor and bob roberts probably stocks the cap kits. It also wouldn't hurt to replace those giant caps either, get the same kinds. |

Man, I wish I'd had the room for it. After picking up the Space Attack (huge) and with the other projects I have I simply could not justify it without getting rid of something else. |
