In attempting to dissable the need to type a username and password everytime I turn on my pc (running Windows xp home), I followed St. Clair's instructions from the Project Arcade book.
I made the changes using Tweak UI as suggested. When I boot my pc, I now get a message that reads:
"The system could not log you on. Make sure your username and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letter in passwords must be typed using the correct case".
I can log in, but I have to type my username and ok.
I tried setting it up in Tweak UI with and without a password for Windows...with the same result. I also tried it by checking and unchecking the "log on automatically at system startup" box. Still the same result.
Please help me with some suggestions on this!
Thank you!!!
Goz:
You could try the following:
1. Go to Control panel
2. Click administrative tools
3. Local Security Settings
4. Click Minimum password length
5. Reduce it to 0, No password required
6. Go to user account in control panel click your account and remove password.
This should disable the password feature.

do the following..
start
run
enter the following
control userpasswords2
uncheck the Users must enter a username and password for this computer.
click apply
click ok
then select the user you want to login automatically.
if the user has no password do not enter one.
There you go, all done.
Works with xp home and pro.

Well, after trying the above suggestions...I now can't login to Windows at all!
I'm not sure what I did, but as you can imagine, I'm pretty frustrated... :(
The message I now get says "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction". I tried every combination of passwords with no luck.
PLEASE help me log back in!!
