Galaga & Dig Dug Broken?
« on: July 27, 2004, 07:52:11 pm »
Has anyone else found that Galaga and Dig Dug would not work after updating them to .84?  They worked perfectly under .79 but now, nothing.  All of the other games updated and work perfectly.  Any thoughts into what could be wrong with these two?

ROMs change.  Verify your sets with ClrMAME.

Sorry for being a little vague.  ClrMame Pro is what I used to update the roms.  But, when I verified them they did list as being bad.  The problem seems to be that Dig Dug is missing file 136007.109 and Galaga is missing gg1-7b.2c, prom-4.2n, prom-3.1c, and prom-2.5c.  It doesn't seem to create these files when updating.  I guess I just got a couple of bad ones.  Thanks for the reply.

I noticed that as well. I figured it was because of some sort of upgrade. I get the same missing file errors.

ClrMAME doesn't create files.  It renames them, pulls other ROMs from sets to create full ROMsets, verifies them against the info in the .dat files.

I know there were changes to Galaga recently, but don't remember if there were new ROMs or just name changes.

Edit: it was .79u1

Yeah.  When I said create I was actually talking about how a file gets renamed to another.  Thanks for link.  Just out of curiosity, has anyone gotten these two to run on .84?  Don't worry, this isn't a request for anything.  I just want to make sure I'm not beating a dead horse here.

Sure, runs just fine here.

You could try rebuilding the sets.

I had the same problem. I solved it by downloading different ROM sets from different sites until I got one that worked.

Same problem here, clrmame just further wrecked my non working roms.  I got some working ones from a friendly neighbor and now Galaga is working again.  I had a problem with Moon Patrol too, haven't checked Dig Dug yet, I will try it tonight.

ClrMAME by itself won't do any damage.  It must have been a user issue.

Yeah.  I can't say that ClrMame didn't work for me cause it did actually rename some files correctly for me, just not the ones that were apparently missing.  That being said, I did get a working Galaga. ;D

Dig Dig on the other hand... >:(
