Does anyone know how to automatically boot into advmenu using linux? (not using X) Also automatically shutting down from advmenu would be a plus.

Never mind about the startup, i found this:
http://ucsub.colorado.edu/~kelloggt/gentoomamecab.html
I recommend if you will be using linux you bookmark it and better yet print it out in case it goes away.
I still need help getting it to shut down from advmenu so any help would be appreciated.

I haven't dug through it yet, but I would think if you looked at the AdvanceCD scripts, you should be able to see what they are doing. IIRC, once you leave advanceMenu, it goes into shutdown.

there is a shutdown event (default is ctrl esc) which is supposed to call /sbin/shutdown
doesn't do anything for me though. My user does not have permission to do shutdown though. Maybe this is the problem and I need to figure out how to give my user this permission somehow?
