How can I figure out what game's controls are setup this way?

Okay that sounds like thats the solution.  What do I use to get a list from the controls.dat file of what I need?

Well, I think you could do it with mame content manager.  controls.dat isn't going to give you all those games right now.  

Also this seems to be a way to convert ini files to excel :)

Hmm all mame content manager seems to do is rename or delete roms/snaps etc, based off of genre...  I can use SortInfo to determine all 2 player 4-way games, but its the 'simultaneous' thing that is the trick...

ahh, yeah.  Well, there's where controls.dat would help :)

does sortinfo show which games are cocktail?  most of those are not simutaneous.
