Can clrMAME build sound sample files for older v0.36 ROM sets????
SirPeale:
And *finally* here is 10.wav from invaders.zip

Thanks Peale. I got all the files from the links you posted. I haven't gone through the process of building the ROM set yet (been a busy weekend). I wasn't about to begin that until I understood if clrMAME took and rebuilt the files AND sound samples to the old set.
I didn't see a Phoenix sound sample in the lists. Phoenix was one of my favorite games, and a lot of discussion I've seen relates to sound samples prior to being integrated into the ROM after somewhere around version 0.37 (I might be a little off on my version number since I'm going from memory). A lot of Phoenix "purists" prefer the sound prior to the integration. Hence my reason to go with an older version of MAME for classic games for an older system I have.....not that I'm one of those purists....
I guess until I build the set I won't know what I'm really missing without doing a little more investigation.
Are you using clrMAME to check what samples are missing? I'm just interested in knowing what you're using to check.
Thanks for the help so far. Such a great community!
SirPeale:
Yes, I used ClrMAME to check. Invaders' "10.wav" was the biggest one on the list, so the inclusion of this file knocked the list from like 40 down to five or so.
Nuttman:
Can I ask what dat file you're using? Is it the dat file for v0.36 and does that include support for sample files? Or are you using a seperate file for just for samples. On this topic, where did you pick up you're dat file?
SirPeale:
Made it myself.
C:\MAME> mame -listinfo > mame36.dat
