Marquee retrainer -- where/what to buy?
(1/3) > >>
sofakng:
I'm wondering which marquee retainer to buy for my cabinet.  The Project Arcade book says that if you use an angled speaker shelf (which I have), that you can't use aluminum and you should probably get the Happ's controls marquee retainer.

So, the total size of the marquee area that I have is 33 in x 8 in.  The total width of the INSIDE of the cabinet is only 26 inches though.

So, do you recommend I purchase 30 feet of marquee retainer from happcontrols.com (thats a bit expensive, but oh well) -- or do you recommend something else for me?
Chris:
How angled is it?  You may be able to plastic corner molding, if it's flexible enough...

Happ sells their marquee retainer in 10 foot lengths, not 30 foot.  The problem is that it'll come in a horribly oversized shipping box that will cost a bundle to ship.  You may be able to get them to cut it into three pieces for shipping...

Marquee retainer ( www.happcontrols.com )

If you order this item from Happ's website it will cost $12.05 + $30.00 shipping as they use UPS by default. However, if you call Happ at 888-BUY-HAPP (289-4277) and order it with USPS shipping it will only cost $20 total ! It is part # 49-1000-00 Retainer for video game marquee

($20.00, enough for 2 cabinets)

People have also had luck using metal right angle bracket from Home Depot, this involves cutting the metal to length, drilling for screw holes, and spray painting it black.

($5.00)

Dig it ?

Well, if the inside of my marquee area is 26 inches wide, wouldn't I need my marquee retainer to be 26 inches?  Meaning, I would need - 3 - orders of the $12.05 retainer?  (because each order is only 10 feet)

...or am I very confused?

I understand about the whole shipping problem, but for some reason Happ's shipping isn't really that bad for me.  The 27" plastic bezel was only $10 for shipping which didn't seem rediculous or anything...  However the advice about calling is definitely good.  The lady who usually answers their phones is extremely nice and friendly.

Um... I'm going with confused. :)  A 10 foot retainer is 120 inches; you need 52 inches total for your marquee.
