Flush or recessed Plexi/Bezel/Monitor mounting...

SideShow Rob:

Hi Guys,

Cabinet assembly is well under way now...finally got all the holes drilled for the dowels to fit, so it should be assembled later today or tomorrow.

Before I think I am finished, just wanted to ask a quick question:

I have got a 19" black plastic bezel on order from Happ, and have purchased some smoked grey-translucent PlexiGlass...do I mount all this flush with the front, or use the same 13mm recess that I have used elsewhere on the cabinet?

I guess this is down to personal preference, but was wondering if anyone has any opinions on it.

I will be using either a 19" black CRT monitor (flat screen is all I can get), or hopefully, a nice curvy 21" Toshiba TV  (only size that will fit in the cabinet...my doorways are only 26" at best, so had to have an internal 24" monitor width area so I can get the assembled cabinet out of the spare bedroom when I need to.)

Any opinions etc. on this will be helpful...thanks.

JAMMA Guy:

recessed (that's my two cents  ;D )

spystyle:

I vote recessed too.

MiKman:

recessed here as well. In fact myTV is recessed about 2.5" into the cabinet, where I have about a 1" reveal all around everywhere else...  I just prefer the look of it.

JAMMA Guy:

Was over at Wally World today (Wal-Mart) and they had a few machines out front and I couldn't help but examine the machines remembering your question  :)

Well the cabinet's monitor bezel and glass were recessed at the top and flush at the bottom near the control panel.

First time I'll really payed any attention to this .... btw ... the cabinets were a Sammy's "Deer Hunting USA" and "Big Buck Hunter II" ... your typical redneck games  ;D
