NO MORE LISTINFO in 84!
Howard_Casto:
Dk is now compliant if you use the new listgen I have posted on the site. I simply have mame convert it for me for the time being since it seems to be the easiest method.
Ugh... as expected it adds about 2 minutes to the generation process and that's on a fast machine. I can only imagine how long it takes on a slower one.
So....
complain complain complain
complain complain
I'll quit when they put it back in! :P

I must be the only one that is blessed by speed. a -listxml only takes a few seconds, and conversion only a few seconds more. Weird, as I've only got an AMD 2400+

I wonder what XML parser Roman uses for ClrPro? XML seems just as fast as listinfo was on my ghetto AMD 1 gHz box.

I just added '-listxml|xml2info' List Gen. Method to MW too....doesn't seem much slower to me.
From what I have done:
'mame -listxml > file' takes ~ the same amount of time as 'mame -listinfo > file'. 'mame -listxml|xml2info > file' takes ~twice as long as either (still only seconds). From then on MW can't tell the difference, so from there on takes the same time (seconds again).
So it only really adds on a few seconds for me, around 3 or 4 on this P4 2.8 I just tested it on...

Here's a question: since a lot of you are adding -listxml|xml2listinfo to your frontends, are your frontends going to be backwards compatible with older versions? MinWAH, you don't have to answer, I already know yours is.
