| Would putting a microswitch joystick into a classic decrease the value? |

Leaf switch joysticks are difficult to come by in good condition, and Happs Ms Pac-Man replicas are plentiful, durable, and not too expensive. Would putting one of these things into a classic Ms Pac-Man cab decrease its value? |
| Ed ONeill:
Everything and anything can inccrease/decrease value, but do you really beleive every one who has this game has the original joystick ..don't forget things break over the years and there is nothing you can do about it. If you are keeping the machine and your friend ccom over most of them aren't going to know the diffrence Now if you are going to sell it keep looking on ebay til you find an original then sell it or sell it as is ...some people might not care if it's an original, replica or even if it's a totally diffrent stick all together. Just my 2 cents Ed |

To most people, no (provided its a 4-way of course) That said, for some folks it will *definately* matter: 1) Those for whom the "click" sound is grating... 2) RGVAC folks who are sticklers for details - this is *not* a bad thing by the way - as long as you make it clear somewhere on the cab that it is not 100% stock, you should be fine. Check the RGVAC archives for fun and enjoyment regarding, for example, reproduction side art that does not have any markings on it to indicate its a reproduction amongst other enjoyable discussions. Many RGVAC folks take game collecting very seriously - when you move into that realm, some are looking for musuem quality stuff which means 100% original. Again, thats not a bad thing. I can only imagine the hellfire that must erupt from hard-core collectors when someone who bought a machine expecting it to have 100% original parts finds out otherwise... |

Well I'm building this thing with the intent to sell it. Should I find a less-than-perfect original instead? |
| menace:
I would use what looks good and comes as close to the original as you can--I doubt that the presence of a non-original joystick is going to hurt your prospects to sell--cabinet condition, artwork, monitor condition would be more important I would think. Although a clicking pacman would be weird... |
