Game Idea for scrolling shooter

Spaced Invader:

Here's a slightly off topic link to a summary of the various teams (as of the end of 2003).

http://www.xprize.org/papers/XPupdate_1203.pdf

Several have finished launch vehicles and plan to compete for the prize this year! Spaceship One is way cool...but it ain't over yet.

ErikRuud:

That update .pdf is out of date now.

SpaceShipOne has made it to space now!  It has not completed the requirements for the prize yet.

As far as I can tell from surfing the team sites, no one else is thois close.

The Canadian Arrow might be second closest.

I don't think any of the other teams even have a full size craft ready for testing yet.

Floyd10:

I would still be able to offer my services, and I could help brainstorm and develop with you. Pretty much the only thing that I can't do is program the game itself(I know websites) :-\. My idea, and what I thought that it was going to be, is one ship against another. Even if these are peaceful ships, they can LOOK like them, can't they? Just call them something else instead. This would be especially cocktail friendly, but you can optimize it for a standing cabinet. Release 2 versions? It shouldn't be much work, just change the view. on cocktail, overhead; on standing, side scrolling. Just my 3 cents.

EndTwist:

I was looking around and this caught my attention: http://gamingplace.atnet.at/preview/338964.html

"This is a vertical scrolling space shooter with recognizable retro style of the 1980s arcade games. The weapons get bigger and better as you get closer to Mother Earth. The game has plenty of bonuses to keep gameplay interesting."

So did this: http://gamingplace.atnet.at/preview/288074.html

Just thought these might be of some interest and inspiration...
