PCB or MVS?
talem:
Alright so i was woundering , is there a differance? I found Capcom vs SNK Jamma PCB and then i saw the MVS.. Whats the differance? or can i just get the Jamma PCB?

I am no expert in this, but from what I know, an MVS is a cart that will plug into a NeoGeo motherboard. The motherboard is JAMMA and is on a PCB... so think of an MVS as a cart in a console video game system.
I guess if there are PCB's of the game, either Capcom or SNK made it as a standalone unit so that you wouldn't need the NeoGeo motherboard??
Again, this may be wrong, but I hope it helps... basically, if you bought just an MVS, you couldn't use it unless you had a neogeo motherboard. I'd assume the PCB would work as any other standalone PCB game would
SirPoonga:
MVS stands for multi video system. NeoGeo had a 1, 2, 4, and 6 slot MVS system. Meaning it can handle 1, 2, 4, or 6 carts. The games cam on carts, like a home console system did.
The MVS system is JAMMA compatible, to a point, the 4th button for each player is in one of the expansion pins on the JAMMA connector.
Note, these things go for some big bucks some times, especially the 4slot system. They are a big collectors item. And they are still being used today. I heard the new Metal Slug 5 is pretty decent.

This page illustrates the difference nicely...check out "Jamma vs. Neo Geo Wiring Diagram". It's close enough (the biggest difference that you'd have to keep in mind is that MVS doesn't use -5V while JAMMA does).

I have a 4-slot MVS "board" sitting around and I constantly teeter between whether or not I should keep it or sell it.
