| Do I need 2 coin buttons ? |

Ok I am in the process of building a laptop mame machine and I have limited space on the control panel 1 player only. It is obviously going to have 1 joystick and 6/7 seven buttons on the right of the joystick, so you can play as many games as possible. To the left I was going to put coin1, coin2, player1, and player2, but then I started wondering...... From what I remember....the old classic 2 player alternating games (ex pacman /frogger..etc) those wouldn't need 2 coin buttons. Now having said that... Can anyone remember/name a game that I might need to have a second coin button. Thanks in advance Ed |

Several multiplayer games need more than 1 coin "button" because depending upon which coin button is pressed determines which player will be used. |

JustMichael , The games you refer to are they alternating 2 player games? The only way to player 2 player games on this machine is if they alternate . Signed Ed |

I can't think of any games that use two coin slots independently, with a single set of controls, so you should be good with one coinup. Make sure you wire it to coin1 though. I seem to remember a few games that won't accept coins in the coin2 slot because they didn't HAVE a coin2 slot on the original machines. |

Anyways I made a temporary control panel with both coin1 and coin2. You can see it in the project announcement forum, the thread name is "mame on the move ". I am hoping to eliminate the coin2 button and re configure the left side of the control panel 3 buttons instead of 4. Let me know what you think Signed Ed |
