sega turbo pedal how do you wire it for mame use
(1/2) > >>
rob1234:
I have a pedal from a sitdown sega turbo cabinet. The connector on it, is similar to the steering wheel. It is a half circle that rotates back and forth between two sets of black poles. I guess its an electrical  connection. I want to wire it for mame use. Is there any way to do this without an optipac? Let me know what i need to do.
Minwah:
Do you have a photo?  Usually pedals use potentiometers (pots)...not sure what the 'black poles' are you speak of, unless it is some kind of hall effect?

go to this link...it has a pic of a steering wheel which has a very similar connection with the black post things I was talking about.

Hopefully Paige will see this as he's familar with that pedal. As I remember it uses an optical sensor, which means either the Optipac, some sort of mouse hack, or conversion to a pot based system.

I believe theres 2 types of pedals for turbo.

The one I have has 2 optos... so a total of like 6 positions are possible.

Youd need to use an optipac to read the 2 optos...and mame has to support that type of input.  Some of the drivers do not allow digital input... rather - they are just set up to use pot values instead.
