They have them up in a weird category which is why I think they aren't getting bid on.

BUT... (and a big butt at that)

they mention its for an offer for 6. So I don't know if you are playing to be able to offer for 6 or its for 6.

Anyone near it might be worth a quick bid. I would do it, but if I ended up having to pay for shipping only on 6 monitors... my wife would KILL me.

They look small to me. Just from the relative size of the wires and the neck of the tube, etc.

Any smaller and they might be worth more... 13" are harder to get a hold of I hear... (at least someone in buy thread was mentioning it)...

I got this back from the seller....not sure he knows anything, but hey it's worth a shot.

Can I get in on a couple?!! I don't want to get into a bidding ware, especially with fellow BYOACers.

I emailed the guy as well, he said he has quite a few. I also asked about the size and resolution and what not and am waiting for him to check with his boss.

After taking a closer look and going buy what category it is in, it might possibly be a Samtron 5" CGA monitor. I have one of these but not in front of me so I'm going by memory. I'll take a look at mine tonight and see if I can tell if they are the same.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, I do not believe these are 5" Samtrons.

Yeah, those are like 6" monitors.

They'd be good for a few things, maybe even a Mini-cab, but they aren't arcade monitors.

Kinda cool though, especially since they are brand new.

I would mind one or two for really cheap myself.

get the goods.
hit the riverwalk (Casa Rio...mmm mmm good)
head back
stop at Sony Outlet (why?...WHY NOT?!)
hit the road again.

figure the cost of the monitor, plus gas, with a tailwind

about $3K a monitor (filling up with the cheap stuff)

seriously if the price is right AND we can use the things....I'm up for it. Let's make sure we know what we are buying. Plus if Alan or anybody else has to go to SA anyway, they may be getting their gas paid for and then some!

Nannuu...when the heck are we gonna find time to roadtrip?!?! Although, if there were a reason cheap monitors would be it. you drive first...

Well I'm confirmed to be headed through the SA area this coming weekend on my way to a family reunion. I can't tell the size of the monitors, but I don't think they're THAT small... perhaps 13" or 14". I can pick them up no problem, but I want a couple for myself. I'll admit now that I do intend to bid on these things. I have not talked to the guy, though. Sooner or later I could probably even use all 6, but I don't want to be greedy if we can all work together to keep bidding low.

By the way, I live in the DFW area if anybody wants to collaberate/cooperate. Let's try to post everything in this thread, though. No secrets, no surprises and no confusion! I work tomorrow, but can make arrangements up until about 9am. I need to know how much people are willing to bid, though, and how many monitors you want. (I'll be wanting 2 for myself.)

I'm sending the guy an email to ask how large they are, if local pickup is available, and if additional monitors can be purchased at 1/6 the winning price.

I'd also like to mention, though, that if the monitors don't meet my own expectations I will not be bidding on them or picking them up for anybody else. This is all contingent on whether I end up bidding or not. I'll have my brother and his girlfriend with me and I can't be dragging them all over SA on our way through if it can be avoided.

They look like some sort of "kit" monitor---tube & chassis. They could be Kristel brand intended for gambling (video poker) machines. Could be a real lucky find here!

Ok I found out he will allow pickups and he will allow me to purchase additional monitors, but he forgot to tell me how big the monitors were. I also need to make sure he'll allow pickups over the weekend. So far so good, though, asaide from the price of the monitors going up.

What are people here willing to pay per monitor and who wants in?

I am very interested in the monitors whether they are 3" or 46.5"! I see that mp2526 is the high bidder right now. I am not going to bid and jack the price up though. I am hoping that someone on this thread wins and the seller allows more to be purchased for the same price. I've been given permission for a road trip so we can split gas prices for a road trip. But if it doesn't work out as such I hope he posts another auction for another 6.

I'm only interested if they are 19" monitors, no more and no less, I'd want to try to replace my Galaga's monitor with it.

Considering it'll take most of a $50 tank of gas to get from Houston to SA and back, I'd pay up to about $50. Less would be nice.

I have a suburban and it will hold several of these, if they are 19" and other Houston people want one.

If you guys really want them, my top bid is $35.36. I made the bid before this thread started really going (actually my first bid was for $25, then I upped it to $45 before seeing that there was a real interest in this thread, so I cancelled that bid and moved it down to $35). SA is only about a 2 hour round trip for me and I don't really care what size the monitors are, I'll find a use for them. But since I figure the guy has several, that the lower we keep the final price the better deal we will get for the other monitors. Although, with all the emails he has gotten lately he may start to think they are worth more. I haven't heard anything from "the boss" yet.

He sent me an email back again. The dude STILL can't give me a solid answer on the size of these things. Only that they are a size SMALLER than "the 85-0220" model... whatever that means...

I'll try to find some info on Google, but he did say he can *probably* have someone available for me to pick them up on Sunday.

*UPDATE* I Still couldn't find any info on it regarding actual size or connection on Google...

**UP-UPDATE** He believes them to be black and white monitors... I still need to find the connection type.

Look at the thickness of the cardboard in relation to the monitor. These things are small.

Be careful with those things, they look like the monitors you find in the backs of car seats....they are in the 'car seat' section. That's pretty small.

The fact that he doesn't give a straight answer to a simple question should raise a red flag.

I just looked at the category:

Car Video & Navigation > Monitors Only > Headrest > 4 inches and larger

Again, I think this indicates that we're looking at small monitors here.

People, first rule of Ebay is don't make assumptions on an Ebay listing. If you don't know what it is, and the seller is avoiding important information like SIZE, manufacturer, age, etc, etc, then you're taking a risk.

If "they were bought for a particular project", then ---gosh-darn---, he should know what the project was and hence, whether these are COLOR or B&W or VECTOR, and what size and make.

Don't takes risks on sellers who avoid giving specific info. They usually do so on purpose.

NOW, if these turn out to be in COLOR and are small (like 13" or smaller), I want one too! But I live in Canada and will have to have it shipped. I don't want to pay more than $50 for one of these not counting shipping (depending on what they are though).

While I agree they are probably small monitors, most monitors on the back of car seats are LCD.

I get the impression from our correspondence that he is selling these things on behalf of his employer so it's very possible he not only doesn't know anything about these monitors... He might know anything about monitors in general - including how to measure the size. I don't know... But he expects them to be B&W...
