Guest Posting on Message Board!!!
Tiger-Heli:
First off, I know this post belongs in the "General Board Discussion" Forum, but I never read anything but the main forum, so please leave it here for a little while.
First off, I am sorry that this step needed to be taken, but I would like to thank Planet Jay for taking a pro-active approach to keeping the board civilized.
I have been involved in the Visual Pinball scene when one of the most talented artists left the scene over in-fighting and flaming on the message boards. And I have followed M$oft Train Simulator add-ons and seen some of the best designers leave b/c someone openly criticized (meanly) their work, or threatened them b/c their freeware addition was running behind schedule. And from members there, the flight-sim add-on scene isn't much better.
If you want to see true hostility, log onto www.mame.net's general/serious forum and post "I double-clicked on mame.exe and nothing happened, just a black screen in a DOS box, what gives??" (Just kidding, don't try this, but you'll regret it if you do!!!)
This board and the mameworld boards has always been one of the few forums where it was safe to ask about any question and not have to worry about someone jumping down your throat about "How could you post something that stupid?" (and then not even answering your question either).
I have enjoyed the helpfulness of everyone here. Let's try to keep the board friendly like it's been since I joined here.
And again, thanks Planet Jay for maintaining the quality of the forum!

Maybe I'm not on the BYOAC boards enough to notice, but has there been a rash of flame wars I haven't seen by anonymous posters? Or is this a pre-emptive move based on happenings of other msg boards?
Just curious.

Actually, neither one, AFAIK! Planet Jay mentioned "spamming by users using faked E-mail addresses" There's a message at the top of the main boards.
A seen some barbs being tossed back and forth, mainly between Snaaake and X-wing, and sometimes between Howard Casto and Snaaake, and I've seen the problems on the other boards, so I just wanted to mention that I was glad to see this board being moderated so the same things don't happen here, as this has always been a friendly site in the past, (still is 98% of the time).

Actually we've manage to sweep most of them away before more than 5 people (less then 1%) read them. This is due to the varied times of day that we pop in and clean up. Also the help over the regular users of the chatroom bringing these to our attention.

Hehe I'm just giving the kid a hard time because of the hostility of his posts initially. I'm glad to say that we've both calmed down and the quality of his posts have improved a lot. I doubt you'll see any more flame-lets from me anymore unless someone deserves it. :)
