Hi all: I'm fairly new to MAME, but am in the process of starting a cocktail MAME project. I was curious to all those that have built a system from the ground up: if you had it to do all over again what one thing would you likely change. I'm hoping to learn from all those that have "been there and done that" Thanks. |

Build the cabinet around the monitor, not find a monitor to fit the cabinet. |

I wouldn't have made MAME so promient on my marquee and cpo. Sadly, no one knows what MAME is and they are always confused. Also, I would have used an arcade monitor instead of a TV as a cheaper alternative. |

i would have saved hooking up the control panel for last. after i got the basic frame of my cab built i built the CP and tested it out. once i saw how well it worked i had to try out all the games. this stalled my cab building and i ended up just making a portable CP to hook up to my HTPC |
