   might be a stupid question but i don't know a great deal about monitors. as long as a chassis is made for a 25" color monitor, does it work with any monitor that is 25" color?

Short and simple: NO.

Yoke impedances are different from brand-to brand and model-to-model. Picture tube sockets vary too.
