| mounting ATX motherboard onto wood |

I am just about to mount my ATX motherboad onto a sheet of plywood. I have made some standoffs from a length of thin plastic tube that i got from Homebase. The standaoffs are about 2 cm long. I am going to use long wood screws to mount the motherboard through the standoffs. normally when mounting a ATX MB in a PC case doesn't the screws make a connection to earth through the case? The only thing is i am wondering if i need to wire the bare metal where the holes are on the motherboard to ground? |

No, not really. I have mounted a lot of these in assorted ways and I have never bothered to do what you are describing. Anyway, i think if you look carefully at the mobo you will see that the screw holes are completely isolated from all the traces, and thus I don't think they are connected to anything. |

So you don't accidentally strip the PCB of the mobo when you screw it in...if you screw it in too tight. (or so I think) |
