Hello everyone! As you can tell I am new here, so I will probably hanging out here alot in the weeks to come. I have a quick question that hopefully someone can help me answer. First off, I am planning to build a cabinet here pretty soon once I finish my homework on them. However unlike alot of mame fans I am not old enough to remember playing many of the games from the 70's and 80's. I grew up mostly on the 90's games. I just got the complete rom set for MAME but only currently have a stock department store computer so many of my favorites run extremely slow. Before I decide to build a cabinet I was wondering is it possible to get games like tekken 3, blitz, nba jam, area 51(mmmmmm my fav), and other newer games to run reasonably well on a computer through MAME? and if so what kind of setup would you suggest? type/brand cpu? video card? etc. THANKS! |

You will be able to play those games on your cab, however, not all of them will run the best through mame. Area 51 runs great on mame. Use an actlabs lightgun to play. NBA Jam runs on mame but requires a lot of horsepower. Use the SNES version if your computer cant hand the mame version. For blitz, I'd recommend the PC version as an alternative to the MAME, but I do think that high end systems run. Tekken 3 is a little trickier. I use the psx version (which is not arcade perfect) with the emulator espxe. For what computer you need for mame, see this thread : http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=14155 |

If you have a Dreamcast, hack a couple of pads and see if you can find the Tekken 3 version of Bleemcast. I lucked out and found it for $5 at EB Games. A Dreamcast is SUPER easy to connect to an arcade monitor (or tv, or VGA monitor, depending on what you go with), and Tekken 3 looks great on it, not to mention the nearly arcade perfect renditions of all the Capcom fighters. Yea, the DC is the way to go if you're a fighting game fan. I'm in heaven with this thing. |

I'm not really a fighting game fan, but since I do have a Dreamcast I may give one of them a whirl. What's a really good DC fighter? -S |
