Early in the 80's there was a TV movie starring Tom Hanks, where he played a college student that got way way too into a D&D type game and started thinking he was actually living it.
Maybe that's where parents got that idea. I knew a kid growing up that when the rest of us would play D&D he never wanted to because his mom had told him it was satanic, made people crazy, etc.
Times change, nowadays we have Grand Theft Auto to blame for "making kids crazy". :D

if anyone can find the video or people acting out Final Fantasy or a D&D game post it both are funny as hell and I can't seem to find them now

Hmmm ... "Sleeping" ... That's what I'd like to be doing right now. ;) Too many projects, so little time. I haven't been able to touch my arcade machine for a couple weeks now. :(
