Advice on properly wiring an illuminated switch

Rawker:

ah no i believe that would be considered the neutral, the + would be live, and for the switch to illuminate it needs to be grounded (for the 3rd time).

Cool, I think I get the concept now (forgive me, I'm new at this). One last question...what would be an easy way to ground the wire?

Thanks for your help!

Ted_Striker:

Please check your link.  In that link it says that switch is for 125vac only.  So if you are using a 9v battery, you may never get the switch to light.  just like you used a resistor for your led, the same is probably true for the switch.  There will definately be internal circuitry or they used an incandescent to light it.  Either way, that particular switch will probably never light up with a battery.  Take it back to Radio Sh*t.. er I mean Shack...   and look for a 12V illuminated rocker switch.  they have them in the drawers.  Auto parts stores also have them and they are usually cheaper.   You can then power it with your pc power supply.

Hope this helps.
